Falcons place franchise tag on Brent Grimes.

My friend told me they are willing to let Curtis Lofton hit the market. They like what they have in Akeem Dent at MLB and they could also move Mike Peterson to MLB and have Steven Nicholas at OLB.

It kind of explains why the saints think Brees will give them a "home team" discount".

Chase Blackburn is a FA linebacker that I'd like to see the Ravens consider. He's not a "bad" starter, but I'd want him for depth and ST's. He's a really good ST's player.

He was on the street for half of last season. Not 1 team called him. Then the Giants had so many injuries they needed someone who knew the system. After the way he played in the Super Bowl I bet he gets a lot more interest this year. He comes across as a very good guy who just loves playing the game.

I heard the same thing because they were sick of how bad Lofton is in coverage.

I wonder if he retires. He looked a lot slower last year. Farrior actually played against Tomlin in college! He's a classy guy and had a great career.

Yea, he was just not nearly as effective at MLB as he was in years past. At 37 years old, he should probably retire.

Larry Foote and Casey Hampton should be next on the list of cuts.

    They cut Kemo last night.

Niners probably using the franchise tag on FS Dashon Goldson.

I don't know if they can cut both Foote and Farrior. I could see them keeping one (Foote obviously now). I thought they'd cut Hampton too but it sounds like they might not. They're well under the cap now, but they do have the Wallace issue. The more space they open up though, the more they're likely going to discourage teams potentially bidding for Wallace.

    I get you.

Honestly I don't see how the Lions would have the cap space for a big contract like that. My money is on the Rams since Finnegan has made it very clear he wants to get paid.

    Me too GOTA.

It just makes too much sense.

    1. Rams have $$ to spend. Finnegan wants to get paid.
    2. Finnegan was Fisher's guy. Fisher is going to want to re-tool that defense.
    3. The Rams' secondary was utterly disgusting last season. Finnegan would be an instant upgrade and an instant star there.

James Farrior was released by the Steelers. any chance we could bring him in on a vet min for a season or two. Offers a quick solution while we let someone develop. If the price is right I like the look of it

That would give us the oldest starting inside linebackers in history.

Last thing the Ravens need is 2 guys who aren't great in coverage. They need someone young and athletic for that spot.

valid point. Just spit balling ideas here haha. I'm praying Hightower falls if we can reach a deal with Grubbs. I think it's our best case scenario

The QB and the pass rusher are the 2 most important players( then LT and CB). You can find good players at other positions without paying the premium, but elite players at the premier positions have proven to be worth the money.

The Ravens should be able to spend now to get over the top one more time with Ray and Ed and then be able to rebuild around a franchise QB and dominating front 4..
You gotta get to that year bubba. And not only that but just from looking into the future you're gonna HAVE to pay a LT, LT like money here very soon, and what about the likes of Webb, J.Smith, T.Smith all who are going to be requiring good sized contracts in th next few years.

Just saying, you cant say that in 2 years we dump 11M in Ed and Ray when some of that is already going to be eaten up. And you still gotta get through this year AND next before the cap is expected to go up. Even if Ed and Ray retire after this season in 2013 on the cap there is gonna be dead money from them.
