Does anyone think Ray Rice could hold out?
Just curious. I don't think he'd be that kind of a guy, but stranger things have happened.

Re: Does anyone think Ray Rice could hold out?
It's entirely possible for him to holdout, it's business. I would like to think that he wouldn't do that but it comes down to the strategy that his agent employs. All that being said, I personally don't think he'll hold out...

I sure hope he doesnt, but it seems like most of the time in these situations they do. As they like to say "it's business"

Re: Does anyone think Ray Rice could hold out?
Even though it's ultimately Rice's decision, we have to understand that the people he has hired to advise him on these matters will likely suggest or rather insist that he goes that route. I would not be at all surprised to see him hold out. He plays one of the least durable positions in the NFL. He can't risk injury if he's going to get paid. Because you better believe if Rice comes in under the franchise tag and pops an ACL or something the Ravens will cut off all negotiations or try to low ball the hell out of him.

Could he? Yes.
Will he? Nope.
Doesn't have that kind of vibe and he's been saying he's ok with the tag.WARNING: This post may contain material offensive to those who lack wit, humor, common sense and/or supporting factual or anecdotal evidence. Festivus
His definitions and arguments were so clear in his own mind that he was unable to understand how any reasonable person could honestly differ with him.

Re: Does anyone think Ray Rice could hold out?
Depends on what his agent is telling him
It would be suprising but players listen to the agents

Re: Does anyone think Ray Rice could hold out?
I don't think he will go that route, #1, he knows it would hurt the team, and he loves his teamates. #2 He is too smart to play that game with Ozzie, because he won't win. #3 He already stated before he got the FT that he was ok with that and that he was gonna be at TC regardless.
I think that pretty much assures us that he is gonna be a team player.

Re: Does anyone think Ray Rice could hold out?
I hope not, and I don't think it's in him to do it, but at the same time his agent seems like a real dick, so I can see it possibly happening. This is why it could be important to sign a FA RB who is proven, and could split carries with Allen should any of this happen.

Does he seem like the type of guy to hold a hard stance to get AP money? Nope!
Is he doing that? Yes!
It's all up to his agent and the strategy he wants to go with. If he tells Rice to hold out, then you can wipe out Rice as the person. This is a business and he's going to put his money first, then the team second.

Man, when he holds out a bunch of you guys are going to feel betrayed.
"A lot" is a two word expression denoting a great deal or greatly, as in "I like sunshine a lot." "Alot" is a lovable imaginary grammar monster. You can love a lot; you can love an alot; you can love alots a lot; but they are not the same thing.

He's stated that he's OK with the tag, I mean it is a $7M raise. No I don't think he will even insinuate that he might.

Don't think he would, but wouldn't blame him if he did. Family first.

I don't think RR will hold out. After all he did just get a $7,000,000.00 a year raise.

Re: Does anyone think Ray Rice could hold out?
If he holds out, it will change my view of him dramatically. Right now I think Rice is awesome.
If he holds out wanting AP money, he will be a lot less awesome in my opinion, and I would hope the Ravens immediately start planning to replace him even if the plan takes another year or so to implement.
My understanding is that the Ravens have offered him a Foster-type deal and that strikes me as fair. If Rice wants even more, then IMO he's being unrealistic and very much not team-first.

Re: Does anyone think Ray Rice could hold out?
I completely agree with your sentiments. I feel the same way.
I like Rice a lot. I've been watching him since he was at Rutgers. He was a guy I really wanted to see as a Raven even way back then.
Foster's deal is 5 years, $43.5 million, $20.75 guaranteed.
Supposedly they offered him something in that ball park and Tony even alluded to them offering him the exact same deal. If I were Ozzie I'd probably go as high as 5 yrs, $45 million, $22-24 guaranteed, but probably not much more than that. Right now Foster's deal averages $8.7 million per season, which is still a lot, but much more reasonable than AP's nearly $14 million per season. At most, I'd probably do $9 mill per season...maybe $9.2, but no more than that. It's nothing against Rice, but the RB position just isn't worth that kind of loot. When it comes to quarterbacks, don't pay attention to stats; pay attention to guys who make crucial plays at crucial times. -Gil Brandt

Re: Does anyone think Ray Rice could hold out?
He's not worth Peterson money. Peterson isn't worth Peterson money.
Besides, I think Rice has an image to uphold in the community. I don't think holding out would help that. Even if it's "just business", fans rarely take the side of the player on hold outs.Q: What's Lee Evans' favorite song?
A: "Drop it like it's hot."
