Thread: Romney vs Obama?

Unemployment still above when Obama was elected. Gas prices going through the roof. About to have his signature and highly unpopular legislation overturned, and in the process showed his lack of knowledge of the Constitution. Submitted two budgets that garnered zero votes. Told the Russians to stay quiet until he gets re-elected so he can be more "flexible" about stabbing our allies in the back. Pissed off Canada so much by axing the Keystone Pipeline, and killing American jobs, that they will no longer supply their oil only to us AND will cease the discount that they gave us for buying it.
But hey Galen, if this jobs report is all you can cling to in order to feel good about your man, that's OK with me. Lord knows you don't want to highlight any of Obama's other job performances.Last edited by StingerNLG; 04-04-2012 at 09:54 PM.

Re: Romney vs Obama?
LOL - Galen missed this detail as he always omits the facts.
ECONOMIC RECOVERY. WHAT RECOVERY?
__________________________________________
However, Federal Reserve policymakers cautioned that recent solid gains in hiring could fizzle if U.S. economic growth remains "out of sync."
____________________________________________
Meanwhile, unemployment remains unchanged for March at 8.3%, which is down only
from 8.8% 12 months ago.

Wait for the link the next time Galen.
BTW, I just saw two friends this week I haven't seen in a while. They're both unemployed
and have been for a year. The guy looked down right bad and the girl is worried about
being evicted. My cousin has been unemployed for 2 years.
There's still 15M Americans unemployed and another 15M with part time jobs because they
can't get full time work.

Re: Romney vs Obama?
No hate Galen. We're just laughing at you because you miss the facts that job growth
was unchanged at 8.3%. That's not good news and the link shows it gets worse with
the economy being "out of sync."
Here's the good news. OBYs illegal immigrant uncle(EVERYONE IN OBY'S FAMILY IS ILLEGAL
BUT HIM, OF COURSE HE'S LEGAL) just got his driver's license back
(UM, ALBEIT A LIMITED ONE) after
entering a plea to drunken driving. Seems he fell within the criteria of Massachusetts.
Hey - isn't that the state of ROMNEY CARE? Some weirdo things never change.

PRAVDA endorses O'BUMMER - attacks Romney.
And you guys thought I was joking when I said liberals were

Re: Romney vs Obama?
I have question (or two) since the media is tallking about a VP pick.
Who do you think Romney should pick as a VP (assuming Romney does get to 1144) and would the VP you think he should pick make you more likley to vote for him?
My pick would be Rubio or Huckabee (who I wanted to run for President).

Re: Romney vs Obama?
I'm pulling for Rubio and I think he's the favorite.
Rubio is very popular in Florida and that's a key swing state. Much like with W back in 2000, it will balance out the ticket with a strong conservative.
No chance it's Huckabee. He offers nothing to the ticket in terms of any state that could be swayed.WARNING: This post may contain material offensive to those who lack wit, humor, common sense and/or supporting factual or anecdotal evidence. Re: Romney vs Obama?
I agree with that about Rubio and I've been paying attention to him for awhile. He aticulates conservatism well but is not a nut job like you ppointed out about O'donnell.
I disagree about Huckabee. Huckabee could help bring out the evangical vote that stayed home last election and at the same time is not so extreme he'll piss off the moderates.

Re: Romney vs Obama?
I've seen all kinds of estimates of how many evangelicals stayed home the most consitant number I've found is about 7 million. Obama won NC by less than 14,000, Iowa by 170,00, Indiana by less than 28,000, FL by less than 200,000. I think it's a 50/50 bet at least that those states could have been won if th evangilicals voted. That wouldn't have won it for McCain but it would have been closer.
You may be right that no one is considering Huckabee. Can you think of anyone else that would appeal to evanglicals without pissiing off moderates?

Re: Romney vs Obama?
Rubio says thanks but no thanks. No VP!
Too bad. He would have helped with the hispanic vote but Romney
got their vote in Florida while winning the state w/o Rubio.
Christie doesn't want it either.
Those southern states above usually vote GOP when there is a
strong conservative candidate like Nixon and Reagan. Even Bush
got the south.

I don't think an evangelical type VP candidate is even on Romneys radar.
He needs to win two of three out of Florida, NC and Ohio if he hopes to win. Rubio gives him Florida. And he's moderate enough that he can grab up the Indy vote in the other two.
His pick will be about electoral math, not any particular ideology.
And I'm not buying (yet) Rubio has ruled it out.WARNING: This post may contain material offensive to those who lack wit, humor, common sense and/or supporting factual or anecdotal evidence. Re: Romney vs Obama?
You're right. Evangelicals won't vote for Romney because he's a Mormon and they consider it a cult. He also said he's not going to attack OBY just to placate conservatives.

Re: Romney vs Obama?
One may not be on his radar, just wondering if you think there is one that could get both? IMO, that would be Huckabee.
Rubio, is doing what everyone does, says no but I think he'd take it unless something happens that virtually assures Mitt loses. He wouldn't want to have on his record a failed VP run.
-
Re: Romney vs Obama?
Here it says 15% of all white Christians will not vote for a Mormon
which means millions will stay home again. Link dated Jan 2012.

Re: Romney vs Obama?
You know the differnece between a religon and a cult? The number of members.
I find ridiculous and highly hypocritical people who want religous tolerance and shout freedom of religon would judge someone else on their religon..
Look at the source... he just wants a evanglical picked. The head of the Southern Baptist Convention said on TV that 30M Christians stayed home in the 08 election.

Re: Romney vs Obama?
You don't think Romney would ask Gingrich or Huntsman or even Perry?

Re: Romney vs Obama?
Gingrich no. He could ppush independents away and also doesn't excite the base like Rubio, Demint, Jindal
Hunstman - No, may attract some independents but presents the same problem as Romney does with the base
Perry - No. wouldn't attract independents, would excite some base and push others away.
