Re: OT - How bout them O's
Yea, even though most of the starters didn't play...losing to a community college program...wow.
Way to go Peter Angelos.
Although I would like to point out that the college team didn't use their own pitchers, they were using O's pitchers. So, I guess if that's the silver lining...When it comes to quarterbacks, don't pay attention to stats; pay attention to guys who make crucial plays at crucial times. -Gil Brandt

Re: OT - How bout them O's
I said it before and I'll say it again I'm an O's fan but for the last 14 years baseball season is just a quick countdown to football season. For the most part we can tune out starting in July....

Re: OT - How bout them O's
Fixed that for you.
Peter Angelos only cares about one thing.......making money.
Because he's a money whore an offer that he can't refuse has to be made to wrest control away from him and his sons who are cut from the same cloth.
PGA is just like his hero Fidel Castro in that he will do it his way with no chance of anyone changing his thought process.
He's a dictator and a whore.

As a brit I'm not a fan of cricket which is our version of baseball here, and so I just can't bring my self to like baseball either. But since I'm a Ravens fan I always check how the O's do. I really do think Steve Biscotti should consider buying them and cleaning house.

Made the front page on Yahoo, as if there wasn't enough humiliation.
I'll just keep remembering that they knocked Boston out of the playoffs last year

Re: OT - How bout them O's
You guys know the Orioles "supplied" the other team with pitchers and catchers, right? The Orioles are terrible, but it's not really a story.

It only hurts when I laugh. I feel for the youth that never saw winning baseball. I have so
many good memories including all the world series games in Bmore all way back to 66 when
Palmer became the youngest pitcher to pitch a COMPLETE GAME SHUTOUT in world series and it was vs one of best in history - Sandy Koufax. I was there behind home plate.
Tic cost $5 and hot dog and coke was under a buck.
Today, pitchers are good if they make it 6 innings as they bring in an army of relief pitchers (some only pitch 1 ball) and Palmer only got a fraction of what
they make today. O's pitchers today are great if they make it five innings.
Funny thing was, Dodgers thought O's didn't have any pitching and they lost in 4
straight with Drsydale and Koufax, two of the best in baseball. Click on link and take your
pick of Jim Palmer stories. McNally beat Drsydale in game 4 for the crown.

Re: OT - How bout them O's
This really isnt a story. It wasnt much more then an intersquad game. Our starters only hit once and it was vs Major league pitching not community college pitching.

Re: OT - How bout them O's
Sorry but you and Dandrews don't get it. When you're the O's, you don't play a community college because whether you are supplying the pitchers, catchers or all 25 men, if you lose it only feeds the overwhelming negative perception.
It's also further proof that the organization just doesn't get it.

Re: OT - How bout them O's
I could probably have written off the CC loss...
if we hadn't lost to our own AAA team the following day. You could say the silver lining there is that our AAA players may soon be ready to outplay our current guys, but I think the loss is more a reflection on how bad our current squad is than how good our AAA team is.
Let's just say what no one says. We are the Cleveland Browns of the AL East, and we are the Detroit Lions (pre-Jim Schwartz) of MLB. When you look at Toronto, which went through rebuilding like 2-3 years ago, and who are now poised to actually contend with the Yankees, Red Sox, and Rays....it SHOULD make you pissed that the Orioles can not seem to get their crap together..

FOR REED, BIRK, BOLDIN, RAY, ART, TEVIN, OJ, and BALTIMORE...
