Thread: NHL Playoffs

    Re: NHL Playoffs

I am praying the Caps play the Devils, but that's a bit of a long shot at this point.

If the Rangers win, then that's the team. I am actually ok with this match up.

    Lundqvist worries me though.

That would be fine by me. The Devils will have a much easier time with Capitals. Honestly though I still see the Rangers choking.

No one remaining in the East has the goal-tending to stand up to the Rangers. Bryzgalov is spotty at best and he's the best of the remaining. The Flyers may have the offense to hang, but the Rangers have completely pwned them this year.

It's anyone's guess who comes out of the West. The Blues may be the highest seed, but they probably have the worst goal tender (which is saying something).

Honestly I think it's gonna be Rangers vs. Predators. Renne is a freakin' mad-man, and they have the offense to score on anyone.

Maybe you meant someone else, but the Blues goaltending has been awesome this year. The platoon of Halak and Elliot combined for a 1.75 goals against average this year, which is by far the top in the league.

I wondering that too. The only issue the Blues have is deciding which one of their 2 great options to use.

I'm on record as saying the Blues. The East is wide-open IMO.

    Agreed.

Now that the Bruins have been bounced and the Rangers being exposed, it's really anyone from the east at this point.

I had the Blues and Bruins before this started with the Blues winning. Without the Bruins I agree that it could be anyone from the East except the Rangers and Panthers who will both be gone tonight.

For those who heard about the racists Tweets coming from the Bruins fans, check out the story here.

Please no comment in this thread, just in the one in the thread I linked to above.

They've been great, that's sorta what I was saying. Still...

Quick I think may be the best goal tender in the NHL. Their weakness has been poor defense and mediocre at best offense. This is a one-player team. However, it just so happens that player's at the most important position in the game, which can decide a playoff series.

Anderson is one of if not the hottest goal tender in the league, playing incredibly well right now.

Renne is a combination of awesome and lit-up-on-fire hot. The team around him is really good, but he's playing so well, and is so good.

Right now, I'd honestly take any of these three over what the Blues have, which is a helluva statement. All four have terrific goal tending. But those three, IMO, are better right now.

Not sure that I'd say they've been exposed. They've just run into a white-hot goal tender. Anderson's been very streaky this season. Now he's on a hot streak. Assuming they close out tonight - and I think they will - the Rangers are still, IMO, the team to beat in the East, possibly in the league.

Gotcha. I see what your saying. Definitely agree, although I think you're thinking of Mike Smith , not Craig Anderson. Smith is the goalie for Phoenix, while Anderson is the goalie for the Senators, who are an Eastern Conference team.

Yeah, I meant Smith, and was thinking about Anderson's name in general and typed it out wrong (which you can see by the fact that I got Anderson's name right at the end of the post, LOL).
