Re: The NEW Breed of Ravens
Well for starters, i think taking a RB in the 3rd, i wouldn't have made that move. I'm fine with the upshaw pick. We got a first rounder in the 2nd cant argue that. My main issue is the HB in the 3rd. That said, i'm excited to have him, I trust ozzie knows what he's doing. I could think of a few players in the 3rd i would have taken instead of Pierce.

Re: The NEW Breed of Ravens
No offence, but why don't you go and be the GM for the Ravens then?
People speculate about players coming out of college every year, but bottom line is that scouts and GM's know WAY more than any of us about what players they really like and what players would fit their team perfectly.

Re: The NEW Breed of Ravens
Agree completely. Pierce is a head-scratcher. Write-ups on him suggest he is neither very fast nor very strong. Little pass-catching experience. Nothing special as a pass blocker. Anyone have some different reviews? I'm happy with Upshaw. Osemele is said to have all the physical skills but work ethic may be a little lacking -- "bust potential."

SMFH... *Offense* Really? did you read my comment? This is why i took a long fucking break from this board you cant have a differing opinion, and you have to always be Pro anything the ravens do on every comment. I cant question a pick? I questioned it in the most respectful way i could. Its just my opinion.
Dont be a jerk, because i dont agree with you. Read my earlier comments, i also said i think pierce will be a solid, good player in the NFL.
No i dont wanna be the GM of the Ravens, I just wouldn't have made that pick if it was me, again i will repeat, i will never say Ozzie makes the a bad move, i just wouldn't take him, its that simple.Lardarius "The predator" Webb

Those write up's are incorrect.
He definitely needs some work, no doubt, he's coming out of Temple. There is going to be a learning curve. However, he's got long strides, he's 220lbs with elite speed and lateral explosiveness.
The biggest knock I can see on him is he runs pretty high. When it comes to quarterbacks, don't pay attention to stats; pay attention to guys who make crucial plays at crucial times. -Gil Brandt

Having read another thread, it looks like I'm all wrong about Pierce. I'm glad. Sounds like he has solid potential.

I'm excited no doubt! The three positions where we lost our best players at are filled with guys that could could contribute right away.

Re: The NEW Breed of Ravens
One of the knocks on Osemele is that he has issues with character, maturity and football IQ. However, he also made the academic honor roll 3 times during his college career.
Only problem is that academic intelligence likely has very little bearing on the field. It might show that he has discipline. Or it might show that he's very smart and could coast on his natural intelligence. I'm not exactly sure, so I'll defer to Wicked or someone that knows better than me.
Please allay my concerns as soon as possible.

Re: The NEW Breed of Ravens
Taking a RB in the 3rd isn't just a replacement for Ricky W. It isn't just insurance for Rice or competition for Allen.
It's a message to Ray Rice.
"Ray, you're great, but you're not worth what you think you are worth and this team will move on without you if you're unreasonable about contract issues."

Re: The NEW Breed of Ravens
All I'll say about his "maturity/character/work ethic" is that similar things were said about Terrance Cody and Haloti Ngata.
Osemele is a BIG guy. He had the longest arms out of any OL'man at the combine and he performed really well with the bench press and other drills for athleticism. There is no doubt that he's raw, but keep in mind the Ravens are asking him to play guard, not left tackle. So, it's ok if he's not the most technically sound player on the offensive line. The big thing the Ravens want to do is get back to dominating defensive lines and pound the rock. If you recall the playoff games the Ravens had a difficult time getting the ground game going and a big reason was because they had no push from the OL. Birk is technically sound, but he's not going to really move those bigger DT's out of the way anymore, so getting a guy like KO to play guard was pretty necessary. He's an aggressive, physical, mauler who excels as a run blocker.
Also, he's going to compete with Oher for the RT position as well, which in a round about way makes me think that if KO can play right tackle then they may consider moving Oher to LG.When it comes to quarterbacks, don't pay attention to stats; pay attention to guys who make crucial plays at crucial times. -Gil Brandt
