The whole "did it actually happen playing basketball" thing was brought up a few times, and Suggs directly denied that at least once. Then it died for a while, now it's cropped up again, and he's directly denied it again recently. I'm not really inclined to try to find the sources at this point but it did happen.

It's still possible that Suggs is telling the truth and Schefter's sources are lying, but that doesn't seem too credible, IMO.

Yea, he said he sustained the injury practicing the condition test that everyone has to do when reporting to training camp.

When his injury was initially reported, the first reports were that he hurt it playing BBall. Then, he - and his agent - denied it. The team, I believe, has been silent on the issue.

My guess is that he did hurt it playing BBall, but there's no reason for him or the team to disclose if it was BBall (especially, if they aren't pursuing any money anyway). In fact, what Harbaugh said today was that it wasn't relevant how it happened (rehab is the only relevant thing), which IMO isn't exactly a resounding endorsement of Suggs' version.

Injuries happen - no matter the time or the activity. We can only deal with them and move on. If the NFL were a normal industrial concern, their injury frequency/severity index would make them uninsurable.
