Great Article on US Involvement with Yemen

    http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2012/06/yemen-war/

The latest drone attack happened early Wednesday in the Yemeni town of Azzan, killing nine people. It’s the 23rd strike in Yemen so far this year, according to the Long War Journal. In Pakistan, there have been only 22...

...Surely, if America is at war in Pakistan, it’s at war in Yemen, too. And it’s time for the Obama administration to admit it.

Stuff like this makes me chuckle whenever you hear Dems claiming that Reps are war mongers and are more interested in the war machine.

If you go back over the history of the US you'd find that Dems have just as much interest in wars as Republicans do, probably more. I'll pull some stuff out of this book I have at home (am at work now). It's pretty interesting.

Really haven't paid attention to this all that much. Foreign affairs, for what ever reason, never held my interest.

I do think we need to get out of the middle east. Completely out. Like it should have happened years ago.

That just may happen in another 20 years when we will be the #1 oil producing
country in the world. North Dakota is now the 2d largest oil producing state in the
country next to your state of Texas or I should say shale oil producing state.

Hell, we have tons of it here in Garrett county the locals won't let us drill and neither
    will O'guv.

Just think if we can drill all that shale west of the Mississippi and the oil up in
    Alaska. We'd be #1 now.

All that said, the gov't won't leave the middle east because they still want to control
all that oil to keep Russia and China from getting it. That's why we're in Afghanistan
and Iraq now. Even H Bush said going vs Hussein was all about oil and he said
Hussein would have taken over the oil in Saudi Arabia if we had not killed him.

Anyway, the best way to keep Russia and china away from the oil is to control
Afghanistan and Iraq which we are doing now. Even when we pull out we will
    still have a presence there.

The US won't let them gain control over the oil we discovered there in the 1930s.

BTW, almost all that oil we're digging up here is going to China.

Here's some pics of shale oil and tar sands in Canada and Utah. They dig the tar sand up and send it to a plant in
big Eukes where it's refined and then returned to it's original spot for re-use.

You can see the black rock in the pic driving out Rt 7 to Denver going across the desert. There's tons of it out there
    we can use.

    I agree.

There are so many things that need fixed in this country it just has never made much sense to me why the US continues to dedicate so many resources to matters around the world and in a lot of those circumstances it has absolutely nothing to do with us.

This cartel BS down along the Tex-Mex border - IMO - is significantly more pressing than a lot of other stuff the government continues to stick their nose into. The Canadian border may actually be worse than the Mexican border when it comes to letting illegals in and terrorist-connected individuals looking to cross over into America.
