Want to watch coaches film this year?

NFL is making it available to all of us who plunk down $70.

If you want to get a better understanding of what is going on on each play...how the protection holds up, did the QB miss available throws, did anybody get open, who blew defensive assignments, how good/bad play designs are...this would be where you'd get most of that info.

Very tempting for the ultimate football junkies like myself...

That's really not too much money for all of the features and tablet access - great marketing move by the league. I bet a few of us go for it.

    Thanks for postin' Woodlawn!

It's the max "Game Rewind" package on the NFL's website.

I might have to sign up for that as well.

As long as they don't have biased "analysts" like Jamie Dukes breaking anything down as if he know's what he's talking about when it comes to evaluating a QB.

The best thing about this is we will get to see Reed back there patrolling the deep secondary, and his effect on the passing game.

    This is absolutely huge.

BTW, if you don't already get the Game Rewind package, you are missing out. It's a fantastic way to quickly search for any individual play you'd like to review. Last season they added coaches film for some plays.

The gamedook is like the searchable index of plays and NFL Game Rewind then gives you a chance to cut in on the video at any point you like. If I want to see every time a receiver was targeted for a season, it literally only takes 60-90 minutes of work to record the games/times and then watch the video.

I'm excited for this. The NFL is doing a great job to appeal to the hardcore fans with this one. We're going to have some great discussions here this fall.

Re: Want to watch coaches film this year?

Hi guys, I'm a long time reader of the site/forums but this is one of my first posts. I buy game rewind every year and knew that this year would be no different, so I went ahead and purchased it as soon as this year's version became available (it was $60 when I ordered it. I checked later in the day to find that they had already raised the price to $70 presumably after finding out that they could based on early demand- they have always been incredibly greedy). Anyway, I just wanted to give everyone the heads up that the coaches tape will NOT be available (at least I haven't found it) for previous year's games- only for the 2012-2013 season. I have been watching several of last year's games over the last couple of days and the product is the same as the previous iteration- broadcast footage for all plays along with the coaches film only for the occasional major play (TDs, INTs, etc.). For $70, I still think it's a pretty good value for the hard core fan, but it's also an unfortunate reminder of when I paid $20 for essentially the same product as I am using now (again, full-game coaches tape isn't available yet) only three years ago. I will say the lack of coaching tape for previous year's games would not have prevented me from ordering, it just would have been nice to have (especially since every analyst with access to this tape says that Cam's offense is reminiscent of an offense from the 60's, and that the receivers are getting no separation. For the record, I'm in the anti-Cam camp, I don't blame the receivers for this).

Glad you decided to post. Thanks for the heads up about the new service. I wasn't expecting previous years so it doesn't bother me but that would have been a nice feature.

Re: Want to watch coaches film this year?

In Billick's book ("More Than Just a Game") he talked about how they had been throwing this idea around for at least a year or two (and the book came out a few years back) and how he just couldnt believe anyone actually wanted coaches film.

I had the package they offered last year, and really enjoyed it.

What I might try is when Filmstudy puts up their report I'll print that off and spend a while comparing and checking what I see
    Good way to learn
