Who's your breakout player for 2012?

The Ravens have A LOT of young players that shined, or showed something last year and are coming into this season with a lot of hope and promise, guys like..

1. Torrey Smith
2. Jimmy Smith
3. Paul Kruger
4. Pernell McPhee
5. Terrence Cody...
.. hell you could throw in Courtney upshaw into that Mix.

Will it be one of these guys or will it be an unknown guy.. I Cant wait to find out who steps up, last season, i think the Surprise player had to be Lardarius Webb.... A lot of us thought he would be good, but only a few of us thought he would turn into what he did.

Who do you think it will be this season??

With some of the reports coming out I am going with Kurger. Earlier in the offseason my choice was McPhee.

It seems strange but might the Ravens actually need the franchise tag for Paul Kruger?(Once Flacco gets done of course. )

I think there are a lot of good choices, but I am going to go with Ed Dickson.

He's got an excellent size/speed combination at 6'4" and 255lbs. He is fluid like a wide out and has good leaping ability. His routes are pretty good and the only thing he really needed to work on was concentration when catching the ball, which he never had a problem with in college and really until last year. Still though, he made a number of outstanding catches in traffic, down the seam, and in the end zone.

A lot of defenses are going to key on Torrey's speed, Rice out of the backfield, and Boldin. That's going to leave Dickson with a lot of opportunities to find open zones and have favorable 1-on-1 match ups.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him catch 50-60 passes this year and be the 3rd leading receiver behind Boldin and Torrey.

Puts himself in the conversation this year as a top 5 QB. I predict in the high 30's for TD's. He finally gets "it" this year.

Despite the recent injury I still think Pitta will have a great year, say 600-700 yards and like 7+tds

Edit: also wouldn't be surprised to see Torrey become our top receiver and top 1000 yards.

Offense - Flacco gets over the hump this year

Defense - Jimmy Smith - I envision Jimmy Smith being our next McAlister type corner.. I think by next season we'll have the best CB tandem in the league in Webbie and Jimmy.

Did anyone mention #53 (Jameel McClain)? He did play well when Ray was sidelined for 4 games in 2011. He called out the defensive signals as I recall. I can see him stepping up in 2012, and being a replacement (although not as productive) for Ray in 2013, after the Ravens win the Super Bowl... Bc

Torrey Smith looks better all the time. He's going to be that #1 receiver the Ravens have always had trouble finding. I'm just not sure if that happens this season or next.

4,000+yds this year. The offense may actually hit top 10 this year, thanks to his increased production.

I would have voted for him if he were one of the choices. Of the choices given, I chose Torrey. I think being able to have an offseason working with Flacco will really improve his performance.

It surprises me that a lot of the people picking Flacco, in turn don't think Cam is a legit OC. They both go hand in hand IMO, unless somehow the opinion of Cam has changed idk how u can pick him as a breakout player. In a lot of people's eyes also he's already broken out.

If he can concentrate on Catching the damn ball he will be a top 10 TE if not even higher. He has incredible ability. He just has to catch the Ball...

That said i still think Pitta might have a better season than him, despite the injury... We'll see.
