Baltimore ~ Pro Bowl defensive tackle Haloti Ngata said he's on track to participate fully Monday after being limited the past two days since passing the conditioning test.
Ngata was activated from the physically unable to perform list Friday.
"I'm way excited to be able to be out there," Ngata said. "I'm excited to get back out there Monday."
Ngata is getting over a hamstring injury sustained when he initially tried to take the conditioning test, a series of timed running intervals.
"Yeah, it sucked. You're running and you feel a little hamstring pull."
Ngata said he weighs 345 pounds, but appears heavier.
"I feel great," Ngata said. "I feel pretty good."
Ngata played at 335 pounds last season, but felt he wore down because of his lighter weight.
Now, he's regained his old bulk.
"Right now, I can feel the power," Ngata said. "We'll just see how it goes. As the season goes, if I feel like I need to lose the weight, then I'll probably try to lose the weight during the season. For now, it's up and we'll see how it goes."
Ngata's wife, Christina, gave birth to a 10-pound, 10-ounce son named Haloti Maximus earlier this week.
Ngata said his wife and son are both healthy and doing well.
The boy's size inspired his name.
"He was just huge," said Ngata, noting he has a sore neck and back from sleeping at the hospital for a few nights. "He's a big boy. We thought it fit him."
