Re: Time for some predictions from everyone...
McKinny who had about 5 tackles last year? I don't see how him leaving makes much of a difference. Honestly apart from Suggs, people are over reacting about the other players lost. We have replaced all the other loss players with possible upgrades. Kruger will have more sacks this year than JJ had last season, McPhee and Art Jones splitting reps will probably be an overall upgrade over Redding.
The Suggs loss is huge, but this defense isn't going to drop too much because of on player. Does anyone remember that we have three other pro bowl players on our defense, as well as an emerging elite corner in Lardarius Webb, and a bunch of solid contributors?
If it's a new day, and that track record isn't going to continue, can you explain to me how our defense was still elite before any of those players got here, and when Suggs wasn't getting more than 10 sacks a year at times? In 2009 Suggs had 4 sacks, yet we where still a top 10 unit, and that was with a horrible secondary too.
We lost two starters this year, not including Suggs who could be back at anytime later on into the season. We lost two decent/average back up/depth players, and a back up DT who was doing nothing for us. In 2010 we lost three starters on our defense, Dawan Landry, Josh Wilson, and Kelly Gregg. I wonder why we ended up having the number 3 overall defense last year, after losing all of those pieces!Last edited by leachisabeast; 08-21-2012 at 07:23 PM.

Time will tell. No doubt they'll be solid but will they be elite? Redding loss worries me as much as JJ

Re: Time for some predictions from everyone...
Not as much, Jones can be a good if not better replacement, If McPhee can bulk up he can even be better than jones.
We lost D players all the time and always found replacements.
One player does not define our defense. A Ngata loss would be way more severe than the Suggs loss. Like the other poster said in 2009 and 2010 when suggs was getting less than 10 sacks we were still a top 5 unit with CBs worse than we have now.

Re: Time for some predictions from everyone...
It is "fun" trying to make all these predictions in the preseason (I do it just as much as anybody). Who will be the kicker...Cundiff or Tucker. Who will replace Suggs...is it Kruger...Upshaw...Kindle...all three...which one can set the edge like JJ did...who replaces Suggs sack totals (and fumbles forced....what a beast). What is the starting OLine...is it Mckinnie at LT finally in shape and able to handle the no huddle (will we even run the no huddle on a semi-regular basis in the regular season?) or is Oher a go at LT. Is it KO or Williams at LG (or is KO at RT while Oher is at LT and Mckinnie sits?). Is Jacoby Jones WR #3 or is it L. Williams? Is Pierce the backup RB? I and we can go on and on and each one is a separate thread on the board (and rightfully so...each position needs to be evaluated...this is what the coaches have to do and what we do as educated fans). With that said I am sure the coaches have identified the "starters" within a player or two that will be a go on Monday night against the Bengals. We will not show our "true hand" in the preseason, in my opinion. We will have a "real" team to analyze after that Monday night game against the Bengals. If we lose and look like we have issues doing so I will be on the board analyzing every position as will most of you on this board. With that said Monday night against the Bengals is when you will see the "real" Ravens...and in my opinion...the Bengals are in deep shit

Re: Time for some predictions from everyone...
Fan favourite Denis Pitta gets 5 TDs in regular season and a TD in every playoff game. Hands of gold!
Kruger 7 sacks, Upshaw 5 sacks.
Webb, pro-bowl, certainty
Brendan Ayanbadejo, 3 Ints, bold as he had none in the regular season since 2009
Harbaugh stops the coach speak and speaks his mind and goes on a rant. Sorry I take that back, never ever going to happen
KO is widely recognized as the teams best rookie for this season
Ray Rice 1400yds rushing 13 TDs
Torrey Smith 1100 yds, 9 TD's
The end around works and Jacoby Jones scores a TD
Ravenous comes back with his Heroes & Goats weekly thread, it is missed
Chiefs make the AFC Championship game, yeah I said it!
Todd Haley has screaming matches with his offense on the sideline and his assistant coaches have to pull him back.
Actually that's not a prediction, that's a certainty

Re: Time for some predictions from everyone...
-Joe Flacco will throw for over 4300 yards and have 30 touchdowns. However, because he will throw 19 interceptions and have 3 lost fumbles, people will still be complaining he is not elite in February. He will be responsible for all of the Ravens losses and none of their wins. He will also start growing mutton chops and encourage the offense to join him. Nobody will.
- Ladarius Webb will be in the pro bowl. Haloti Ngata will gain strong support for DPOY but lose out to Mario Williams.
- James Harrison will be fined for reckless play.
- The Ravens will have the second most inconsistant offensive line in the AFC North. The worst line will belong to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ben Rothlisberger will play the second half of the season with a new injury every week before the entire offense is rendered ineffective.
- Andy Dalton will throw more interceptions than touchdowns.
- Trent Richardson will not lead the Browns in rushing.
- The Ravens will go 9-7, which will be enough to win the division via tiebreakers.

Re: Time for some predictions from everyone...
I predict that the Ravens will be fine once the season starts and they will play with a big chip on their shoulders as usual. I also predict that if the Ravens finally win their second Superbowl most Ravens fans will finally relax and stop playing the blame game (wishful thinking on my part).

Re: Time for some predictions from everyone...
Hmm Flacco stat predictions...
Judging by what it seems they are "up to" with the no-huddle, audibling, and an emphasis on quick hitting passes, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say...
4200 yards
31 TD's
14 INT's
64% CP

Re: Time for some predictions from everyone...
I predict that passing numbers will be even crazier this year than last year. We'll see a ton of double digit comebacks and record scoring from the league as a whole.
Cam will continue to have a Flacco on a short leash until the Ravens lose a game they shouldn't. Only then will Harbaugh get involved and open up the offense. Flacco is going to take a ton of hits this year but he will be more productive and gut it out.
McClain is going to be the breakout defensive star that no one expected.
Tucker will make the kick to win a game that Cundiff would have missed.

Re: Time for some predictions from everyone...
I predict that you and everyone else on here will open your eyes and see how big of an impact that Jim Caldwell has had on this organization. Cam loves Caldwell, I'm tired of playing the blame game, it's a new day. The Ravens finally have the pieces that will allow Joe to run the offense, it helps to have quick fast playmakers to run a fast paced no huddle offense.

Re: Time for some predictions from everyone...
Joe Flacco will throw for forty touchdowns and 4,000 yards, while throwing ten or fewer interceptions. When that is combined with the Ravens winning record, while Rivers struggles even more than last year and Ben struggles with injury again, the voters have no choice, but to put Flacco in the Pro Bowl.
Jacoby Jones will begin the season as the third WR, but after a slew of dropped passes and an injury to LaQuan Williams, Deonte Thompson becomes the third WR due to his speed and never lets the position go. Doss is once again stuck behind Boldin on the depth chart.
Lardarius Webb will be an All-Pro. Jimmy Smith will play like a pro-bowler, but will be snubbed, much like Webb the year prior.
Haloti Ngata makes a run at defensive player of the year and actually gets it.
Vontae Leach catches twenty passes.
The combination of Joe Flacco and Torrey Smith becomes one of the best in the league and Torrey dooms the division again.
Ed Dickson continues to struggle with catching the ball consistently, while Dennis Pitta reminds everyone of what Todd Heap would have been like if he actually had an accurate QB throwing him the ball.
The Ravens go into Philadelphia and soundly beat the Eagles, before defeating New England week 3 and getting off to an 8-0 start. They finish the season 13-3, the same as New England, but gaining the tiebreaker and the #1 seed.
Now, for outside of the Ravens:
The Bengals still finish third in the division, while the Ravens surprisingly run away with it early. Pittsburgh loses to Denver week 1 and starts the season 2-2. They get hot by mid-season, but to no avail and are swept by the Ravens again.
The Jets miss the playoffs again and this time it isn't even close. Leading to a house cleaning in the off-season.
Norv Turner gets fired mid-season, providing the Ravens with the option at OC that they wanted this past off-season. A.J. Smith really crashes and burns.
Houston does not come out as hot as everyone expects, leading to a QB controversy.
Chris Johnson leads the league in rushing.
Peyton Manning starts off well and Elway is ecstatic, but his neck doesn't hold up and they falter down the stretch. That division is won with nine wins.
Tony Romo, once again, fails to come up in the clutch and this time his regular season stats aren't enough to stage off the desire for a change.
Robert Griffin and Washington start off red hot, but struggle down the stretch and just miss the playoffs.
The Eagles struggle with injuries again and lose their composure.
Atlanta battles for the division, but loses out to.......Tampa Bay.
Carolina gets closer, but cannot get in.
Green Bay retains their division title, while Chicago inexplicably plays inconsistently.
Jim Harbaugh mishandles Randy Moss and it causes problems in San Fransisco. Meanwhile, Michael Crabtree continues to let them down."When questioned, the Elders explained that they were in search of magical powers.
