Re: Steelers woes continue
I know people who are married and have split households like that. One girl I was in the Navy with was an avid Texas A&M fan and her husband went to U of Texas.
It can be done, but IMO (for me at least) the girl would have to be pretty damn special in order for me to look past her fandom of all things Pittsburgh.
Luckily though, my wife wasn't really a sports fan until she met me and has taken the Ravens as her team although she still roots for the Giants as she is from NJ and her family are all Giants fans, which is ok by me. I actually don't mind the Giants. When it comes to quarterbacks, don't pay attention to stats; pay attention to guys who make crucial plays at crucial times. -Gil Brandt

Just saw that Harrison has been ruled out for the Denver game this weekend.

Re: Steelers woes continue
I am starting to think the Steelers are going to get pwned by Manning.
They have nobody that can pressure him now and left alone in the backfield, he will pick them apart 10-15 yards at a time.WARNING: This post may contain material offensive to those who lack wit, humor, common sense and/or supporting factual or anecdotal evidence. Re: Steelers woes continue
We just need to hope that Denver win, then take care of the Cincy game. We'd be 1-0 and both the Bungles and the Steelers would be 0-1, gives us at least a one step up the ladder over everyone to begin with. The Eagles game the week after is going to be TOUGH however.

If Pittsburgh can pull this one out of their ass, nothing should stop them from, at least, making the playoffs. Taking on Manning without Harrison AND Clark?

I think that also depends on just how good Manning and this Broncos team is going to be though. I can either see the Broncos being disastrous this year, with Manning going down early, or being legit SB contenders. There are questions surrounding the Broncos defense, although their pass rush should be keeping Ben up at night right now, I don't know who's going to be blocking Von Miller, and Dumerville off the edge.

Re: Steelers woes continue
My family, best childhood friend's family, and good helping of my friends are Steeler fans. By all accounts, I should have been one as well considering I grew up post Colts in Baltimore and a Steeler household. To be honest, I didn't even know the Colts were here in Baltimore until I became a teenager when the Ravens came to town and those old wounds were opened in the city.
I raise hell with my grandparents and parents with my purp and black and endured the Evans drop and Cundiff miss most harshly, but we still love each other. Now I'm married and a father of three who are purple all the time. We've made it too

Re: Steelers woes continue
Point was that you said the Steelers had "no one" left to pressure Manning. I'm sure you haven't noticed, but Woodley has been better than Harrison the last two seasons. He's better than decent.
As to the Ravens pass rush...
It was to contrast your mistaken belief the Steelers have no one to pressure Manning, while in actuality your best pass rusher is truly just decent.
But again, what da phuk I know.

Still has nothing to do with the Ravens so why compare the 2 teams? The Steelers are facing Denver this week and the Ravens are facing the Bengals. I seriously doubt if Manning holds the ball long enough in order for Woodley to touch him. Is yall starting FS playing tomorrow?

Re: Steelers woes continue
By our best pass rusher, I hope you mean Kruger and not Suggs. I'd take Suggs over Harrison or Woodley, call me biased or whatever, but I feel Suggs is an all around better player than both.
IF you where just talking about Kruger, then fine. I think McPhee or Ngata are probably our best pass rushers tbh (after Suggs), and they are both defensive tackles.

Settle down, yinzer.
I'm not knocking your team. Just pointing out the loss of one from an effective LB random tends to effect the other. Woodley alone isn't as nearly effective as he is when Harrison is in the game.
He will draw the double team now, thus the pass rush is severely effected.
We are in the exact same boat with Suggs being down.WARNING: This post may contain material offensive to those who lack wit, humor, common sense and/or supporting factual or anecdotal evidence. Wouldn't surprise me if the game sets a ratings record. First Sunday night game, Manning with a new team after missing a full year, Pitt back where they got Tebowed...

Re: Steelers woes continue
[QUOTE=HoustonRaven;481796]Woodley is decent, but like all LB tandems, take one away and the other suffers since the O line can now focus on just one pass rusher.
Well put Houston. With Chris Carter starting for Harrison the Broncos can afford to double Woodley in protection schemes. Carter may see the occasional chip out of the backfield but will be one on one most of this game unless he plays like a monster. Lebeau can dial up a safety or corner blitz from Carters side but against Manning you do so at your own peril.
It's not easy getting to Manning. He's been sacked just 231 times in 13 seasons. He's attempted 7,210 passes. The most he's been sacked is 29 times in 2001.
