Re: Thursday Injury Report: Ravens v. Bengals
Not having Kirkpatrick is going to hurt for sure. Odds are he'd easily become their 2nd best corner behind Leon Hall.
I also read that Scott, Dunlap, and Allen likely won't play Monday night. When it comes to quarterbacks, don't pay attention to stats; pay attention to guys who make crucial plays at crucial times. -Gil Brandt

Re: Thursday Injury Report: Ravens v. Bengals
By the sounds of it, the Ravens will have Pitta and/or Dickson back on the field, which I see as being huge. I know they're both game time decisions, but I would certainly hope for at least one of them to play.

"It's like a rerun ... Everybody knows how this story ends, with us and the Steelers. It's about time we changed it, and give people something new. Right now, it's kind of like we pride ourselves on being a bully, but they're the ones that keep knocking us out of the playoffs. So they're the bully. One day you just got to say '[screw] it' and punch the bully totally in his mouth. Then they won't bully you any more." T-Sizzle

Re: Thursday Injury Report: Ravens v. Bengals
Why would Doss be inactive for Monday? He's currently listed as the #4 receiver on the depth chart. If any WR is made inactive it's Deonte.

1. That's a fan's guess, not any kind of official list.
2. We cut Gorrer for Ihedigbo, who is not on that fan list.
3. Get off the Gorrer ball washing. 31 teams had a shot at him and passed. Guy is a mediocre depth corner who can't contribute on special teams and plays 4 snaps a game unless some one gets hurt, in which case, he is still available to resign seeing as how no team thought enough of him to do so.My motto was always to keep swinging. Whether I was in a slump or feeling badly or having trouble off the field, the only thing to do was keep swinging. -Hank Aaron

Re: Thursday Injury Report: Ravens v. Bengals
The only problem I have with that is, Gradkwoski and Rainy. I think the Ravens are going to use both Pierce and Rainy as back ups to Rice, not just one. I think they will go a more comite approach in the new up temp offense. Gradkowski is the only other center on the roster, so I think they will keep him in backing up Birk.

Re: Thursday Injury Report: Ravens v. Bengals
Well, it depends on who they trot out there on special teams. I have a feeling we could be in the same position as last year with regards to Doss where he is inactive in favor of less-talented WRs who can play special teams.
We only carried 8 LBs this year versus the normal 10 we carry. Obviously, Kruger, Kindle, Upshaw, and Lewis aren't going to be playing special teams. I'm not positive that McClain or McClelland will either, since both are starters. That leaves Ellerbe (not a strong ST guy) and Ayanbadejo for special teams. We aren't using Webb or Cary on STs, and I doubt Jimmy either.
If we deactivate Brown or Asa Jackson that cuts further into that ST depth. Laquan Williams will surely be active and in on ST, where he played decently last year. I just don't see us deactivating Deonte, Chykie, and Asa.
Unlike in past years where we used some of our TEs on special teams, I don't see that happening either.
Who do we really have that can cover kicks?
BA
Ellerbe
Asa Jackson
C. Thompson
D. Thompson?
Ighedibo (sure I spelled that wrong)
Considine (but he's likely out)
LaQuan
Deonte?
Graham
I'm just totally guessing here until we see the final alignment of who is on special teams, but I am thinking that Doss is going to be inactive. If the Ravens are looking for that 4th WR, they have Laquan and Deonte around who can play the position in a pinch and play on STs.

Re: Thursday Injury Report: Ravens v. Bengals
Also, not to pick on you, but there is really no chance that the Ravens would keep all 7 D-linemen active. Tyson is almost definitely going to be inactive, as might be Hall. Tyson and Hall are like the #5 and #6 run stopping DTs on the roster (third stringers essentially). Neither really helps the team in pass rushing situations either. Since neither plays special teams, keeping both active would be pointless. Unless there are more than 2 injuries at the DT position (highly unlikely), they aren't going to help us on Monday.

Re: Thursday Injury Report: Ravens v. Bengals
It would be a bummer for Gradkowski if he's inactive.
Heard he's getting like 25 tickets.
His whole family will be there as his brother is Daltons backup.

Re: Thursday Injury Report: Ravens v. Bengals
Gino needn't worry. With Reid's inactivity all but guaranteed, the Ravens aren't going to de-activate their only backup C in order to keep Harewood. They will go into the game with 7 O-linemen with Gino and Osemele/McKinnie being the backups.
BTW have we heard who our starting LT is going to be? I haven't seen anything definite stated yet.
Anyways, 7 o-linemen is sufficient. The Ravens have a backup and a 2nd backup for pretty much every scenario they can encounter injury wise. KO can play LT, RT, or LG. Gradkowski can play LG,C, RG. So even if two of our 3 interior O-linemen were to get hurt, we'd have a capable backup available. If a tackle gets hurt, we have 3 guys who can play LT (oher, KO, McKinnie) and 3 who could play RT (KO, Oher, Yanda). The versatility from Yanda, Gradkowski, KO, and Oher make keeping an 8th O-lineman active unnecessary.

It is probable that my sister-in-law will be "inactive" too. She's been inactive since 1984... Bc

Re: Thursday Injury Report: Ravens v. Bengals
I have a feeling that Bajema is going to be active. He's the only one who really played this preseason and he did well. I could see them going 3 tight ends and 4 receivers for this game.

Re: Thursday Injury Report: Ravens v. Bengals
New poster/Bengal fan here. I come in peace by the way, not to talk smack lol. Knowledgeable fan, not a knucklehead.
Not having Kirkpatrick isnt going to hurt as bad as you think. Nate Clements would be the #2 CB even if Kirkpatrick wasnt hurt. At least for the first few weeks.
Bernard Scott and Carlos Dunlap are for sure out and I'm not sure about Allen to be honest.
My main concerns for this game is stopping Ray Rice.
Dude is a beast and a Bengal Killer for sure!!
My other concern is the Center position for the Bengals.
We lost Kyle Cook for at least 6-8 weeks and in the last preseason game started a rookie free agent from Notre Dame (Trevor Robinson) who has never played Center before in his life. He was a Guard at Notre Dame. We did however sign Jeff Faine. He may not be All-Pro but he's a wily vet with 100 plus starts in the NFL. Certainly better than an undrafted FA playing Center for the first time in his life. Even though Robinson held his own.
Anyways I feel better about Faine being in there against the like of Ngata etc etc than I do Robinson!!
My other concern is the lack of a running game from the
Bengals standpoint in preseason. We dumped Cedric Benson because of his fumbling habits towards the 2nd half of last season and signed BenJarvis Green-Ellis in FA, who has never fumbled in a regular season game in his career. Not to mention he's a waaaaaaaaaay better pass catcher out of the backfield than Cedric ever was or will be. Which is important in the West Coast Offense
that the Bengals are now running with Jay Gruden being the Offensive Coordinator. We pretty much ignored the RB position in the draft until Rd. 6 or 7 when we took "Boom" Herron from OSU. He's on the practice squad.
The Bengals averaged like 2.3 yds a carry during preseason which scares me even though it was only preseason. That $hit wont cut it, especially in the AFC North!!
Anyways, Good Luck Monday Night and even though were fans of the "other" team, lets ALL root for an injury free game!!!
Peace
