It is amazing what happens when you design the offense around the players strengths and not try to shoehorn them into being something they are not.

Those reverses had the defense sitting and waiting for the play to develop, and Rice just walked into the endzone. They were not looking for Rice to carry the ball, as is usually the case with this predictable offense. Excellent play-calling this 1st Qtr.

Opening up with a strong passing game is going to pay dividends for Rice later in the game. It did on that TD run as well. Last year the defense would have been so keyed on Leach.

Best part of that drive was Harbaugh deciding to go for it on 4th down. Harbaugh pre-2012 doesn't even remotely contemplate that move. This year it looks like we are going to be going for some jugulars vs. playing it safe. And I like it.
