Thread: Game Thread -- Ravens @ Eagles

Re: Week 2 Game Thread
I mean, let me clarify, I'm not saying that the no huddle would have continued to be successful, but it was working and it was keeping the Eagles from rotating DL'men in as much as they did in the 2nd half and that is a big deal when you're facing a team like the Eagles who run a wide-9 defensive front.
When it comes to quarterbacks, don't pay attention to stats; pay attention to guys who make crucial plays at crucial times. -Gil Brandt

I don't know about the others you quoted, but I'm not blaming Joe for the loss...although if he played better in the second half, no question we win.
At the moment I posted that, we had a clear chance to win if Joe keeps his head in the game and we don't try and go for the damn home run on virtually every down...and when he didn't, he wasn't accurate on the short throws.

Re: Week 2 Game Thread
I think the defense sucks worse than the offense. If it wasn't for Vick throwing picks and fumbles, the score would've been worse than what it was. Philly has a good-great D, and the Ravens just played trying to get the ball. They weren't stopping shit else. Similar to last week in the first 3 quarters.

Re: Week 2 Game Thread
He also missed a wide open Pitta in the endzone. He underthrew Torrey Smith by a mile on what would have been a TD if Joe hits him in stride. He took a terrible sack that, if not for Tuckers leg knocks us out of field goal range. Make all the excuses you want for Joe, he had far more bad plays than good ones today.
I usually try to support Flacco but I am sick of the hype. He's not nearly as good as he thinks he is.

the refs were letting the cb's hold the receiver. the problem was our cb's were not close enough to the receivers to hold them.

Agreed.
Though Ravens fans the world ovwer have their hands on their ears going "lalalalalalalal ddaddadadad I can't hear you I'm going to blame Joe despite the D letting up 500 yards and the refs not calling that TD lalalalalalala la la alal a.
Pretty much how it will go this week.
Same with eSPN/NFLN.

Re: Week 2 Game Thread
That's the dumbest thing I've read in a long time, who the fuck causes turnovers? Oh yeah our offense causes Vick to throw picks I guess...
The offense was worse than the defense tonight, if our offense could actually get anything going, maybe our D would have looked better with more breaks and time to rest.

Re: Week 2 Game Thread
The dumbest thing huh? How the fuck do you give up 500 yards then? Come on man really?!? I know most people here have a stiffy for the D but call a spade a fucking spade! They played like shit too! Worse THAN the offense! They HAD a 6 point lead at the end of the game. I didn't see them 'bend but don't break!'

Re: Week 2 Game Thread
No. The narrative would be that Joe played poorly, but recovered to pull the game out in the end. And that would be the truth. He did play poorly, but stepped up when he was needed.
Joe isn't going to avoid bad plays every single game. He's going to make mistakes and hurt the team. The problem with people's perception of Joe is that when he has a cold streak and throws a bunch of bad passes, those mistakes are seen as more significant than all the other mistakes in the game, so much so that they absolve the other players' failures.
If Michael Oher lets Trent Cole run right by him into the backfield, pressuring Joe before he gets to the top of his drop and the play finishes developing, that's a mistake, right? And if Joe throws a bad pass as a result of that pressure, then they both made mistakes, right?
That's all I'm saying. It's too much for some to hear.
