1st Presidential Debate....what did you think?
I thought Mitt killed it! Obama merely held his own IMO. I thought Mitt could have hammered Obama on several issues, especially in regards to the economy.
Your thoughts?

Stuck at work. If possible, could someone throw some reaction bullet points up from he debate?

Re: 1st Presidential Debate....what did you think?
Too much to list but, it was a total ass kicking. Everyone is saying it. MSNBC is in full panic mode
Romney called out Obama for focusing on OBamacare instead of jobs and for bitching about 2.8 billion in tax cuts to oil companies when Obama gave 90 billion to green energy companies who were bankrupt and campaign contributors. We are all born ignorant, but one must work hard to remain stupid. - Benjamin Franklin

Mitt definitely won it.
He was very confident and put Obama on the defensive right away. I can see why his handlers were lowering expectations. Obama stammered A LOT while and he was often caught looking down while speaking.
An interesting visual occurred right when Mitt said "the middle class is getting crushed". Obama could be seen nodding his head in agreement. He was nodding from the previous comment but its a visual that may end up in an anti-Obama ad.WARNING: This post may contain material offensive to those who lack wit, humor, common sense and/or supporting factual or anecdotal evidence. Another interesting visual was when OBY became irritated with
the moderator who was a veteran MC at such events. Mitt haad
him on the defensive so bad he was on edge.
As Carville said, he looked like he didn't want to be there and
as Bil Maher said, he needs a teleprompter the way he stumbled
over his words.
I love Carville's quote: Romney came with a chain saw.

Just a gauge of how decisive this debate was?

Still don't think it's enough though.
Mitt's been running a dreadful campaign up till last night. He NEEDS a repeat performance. If not, the media will pounce and return Obama to his glory.WARNING: This post may contain material offensive to those who lack wit, humor, common sense and/or supporting factual or anecdotal evidence. Re: 1st Presidential Debate....what did you think?
I agree (to a point) he needs to at least slightly win the next two but definitely the last one to leave that lasting impression of being a man who can bring people together that has a plan to fix things.
I did watch a focus group afterwards and a lot "undecideds" did say this swayed them to Romney. We are all born ignorant, but one must work hard to remain stupid. - Benjamin Franklin

well, to be fair the media is going to do that anyway.
the reason I'm going to disagree with the premise that this was not enough is because tonight instead of the media and the Obama Administration defining Mitt Romney, Mitt Romney to define himself and got to cut through the lies and BS that's been said about it and I think that is important piece.

Re: 1st Presidential Debate....what did you think?
According to Andrew Sullivan of the Daily Beast, OBY pulled a Billy Cundiff and choked and just lost the election.
He committed political malpractice.
________________________________________________
The Daily Beast’s Andrew Sullivan called Obama “tired,” “bored” and wrote that he might have even lost the election.
“He choked. He lost. He may even have lost the election tonight,” Sullivan wrote, later adding, “Obama looked tired, even bored; he kept looking down; he had no crisp statements of passion or argument; he wasn’t there. He was entirely defensive, which may have been the strategy. But it was the wrong strategy. At the wrong moment.”
Sullivan, an Obama supporter, was even more vicious on Twitter, calling Obama’s performance “terrible” and “political malpractice.”

Re: 1st Presidential Debate....what did you think?
Here it says Mitt energized the base especially the indies which I posted on another thread. I also posted that 47% of the undecides said
Mitt won.
Rush warned everyone that the polls were already in before the debate and would be skewed for OBY even if Mitt won the debate.

I could point out that Mitt did a complete 180 on so many issues during this debate, and that he straight up lied about plenty, but I know you, like the majority of the American public, don't really care about things like fact checking.
In that light, I'll definitely give the debate to Romney. Style over substance. Obama just sat there and took it. So did the moderator in fact.

Actually, the fact checks I've seen even with their bias's (cause everyone has their bias's)call Obama out more than Romney.
But you're not a fan of either, so I am sure you saw through the bias.We are all born ignorant, but one must work hard to remain stupid. - Benjamin Franklin

Lies - who OBY?
I laughed when OBY said he created 5M jobs but I'm sure millions believed him.

Re: 1st Presidential Debate....what did you think?
I'll leave this here
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-me...ential-debate/
The debate kind of lacked substance in general, since it was really just both candidates going over their talking points that they've been spouting for the last year. Obama let Romney slide on plenty of shit, and Romney attacked well. So as I said, I definitely give the debate to Romney.
Also, linking to GOP.com? Yeah, thats a nonpartisan, nonbiased source. Nice work buddy.
Also, you seem to be slightly ignorant on the definition of created. Obama claiming he created 5 million jobs is not false. Obama claiming we GAINED 5 million jobs over our previous number would be false. He did create 5 million jobs. We just lost about the same number in the same time period.Last edited by CptJesus; 10-04-2012 at 11:48 AM.

Coal stocks jump this morning after Mitt's comments to keep burning clean coal last night.
OBY has closed down many power plants and more are on his hit list to appease
enviornmental whackos.

Re: 1st Presidential Debate....what did you think?
Right NC.
CNN's FACT CHECK SAYS :
that the net gain since he took the oath of office in January 2009 is just 125,000 jobs.
That's a far cry from 5M created jobs.Pic of a natural act.
