Why does Birk use the exact same shotgun snap routine every freaking time?
1) Look back at Flacco.
2) Drop head.
3) Snap on one-count.
4) Get Flacco killed.
Never looks up again, never holds the ball for an extra second or two to throw off the rushers. Just gives them the best possible jump on the snap.
This O-line might actually look OK on the road if the D-line didn't know the exact instant that the ball will be snapped. It's like a middle-school team. They could even draw some encroachment penalties if they'd just mix it up a little. How difficult could that be?

Actually, it could be Andy Moellers fault. Not even joking about that.

Re: Why does Birk use the exact same shotgun snap routine every freaking time?
Yes, it is. It's the coach's job to keep players from becoming too predictable. And if the average fan can see it, the coach should have seen it in training camp and FIXED IT!
Why do I get the feeling that Pees is going to be the fall guy for all of the incompetence on offense?

Re: Why does Birk use the exact same shotgun snap routine every freaking time?
Birk has done this since he got here. Teams timing the snap got really bad at one point and he did change it up, and I recall a particular game when they were able to create three or four offsides penalties. That put a temporary end to it...but he reverted shortly thereafter.
I can recall an interview with Ray Lewis where he showed film on Eddie George and had picked up on a "tell" where George's toe was slightly offset before the snap and Ray knew which way the play was going. If they pay attention to this little detail, you know they are paying attention to Birk's headsnap routine.

How the o-line coach even has a job is puzzling. We need a real o-line coach in here.

Re: Why does Birk use the exact same shotgun snap routine every freaking time?
Just watched the safety again. My oh my oh my I didn't think it was that damn noticeable.
Before the snap there was a guy lined up to birks right, between him and yanda, I think it was smith, then mercilus I thnk, number 53 on Williams and Barwin was lined up on oher.
Then it happens, yanda slaps birk, smith slides over on top of Williams, causing Williams to block him, oher then has to pull inside to block mercilus, or whoever 53 is and then that leaves Barwin untouched.
They knew the snap count, point blank, yanda slaps birk, birk looks between his legs and presto, snapped.HUNT HUNT HUNT, dont stop hunting til you have him up on your wall!! - Ray Lewis to T Sizzle on our record setting sack day

Re: Why does Birk use the exact same shotgun snap routine every freaking time?
And you can't really blame the players for doing that, the coaches have to find a way to overcome it and adjust that shit. Moellers an idiot.
Is Julian Castello still out there after Philly fired him? He may not be a good DC, but he was a good Oline coach, maybe Harbaugh could consider giving him a call. I assume they were together in Philly a few years back. Not really sure on what scheme he believes in, but anythings better than this drunken moron that we have right now.

Might as well bring in Castillo since Moeller will probably end up the fall guy anyway to protect Cam when Harbaugh starts feeling pressure from the top to hold somebody accountable for the offense's inconsistency and, at times, incompetence.
