Re: Would you like to have had Dez Bryant?

We traded out and wound up with Kindle and Cody. Ummmmm yeah I'd give both of them up for Bryant, who BTW was only taken one slot above where we were picking and via a multiple team trade.

That being said I was in the Tate camp as we needed someone badly that year, or even LaFell both were available in the second but neither has blown the NFL up but still. We didn't address the position until the next year with T.Smith so those saying they would rather have Torrey have about as much credit as a rock. Think about it, Bryant, than Torrey the following year, AND still having Boldin working the slot? Yes please, anyone who says otherwise is a fool.

If you wouldn't give up Cody and Sir Kindle for Bryant than just stop watching football. Maybe Tennis suits you more.

Even though Cody hasn't played well this year, he's still not at bust status IMO and still has time to grow, he had a good game last week, and I still think there is time.

    I'd rather have Calvin Johnson.

And I'd still rather have Bryant. Just my opinion though. Mediocre nose tackles aren't hard to come by. Big bodied receivers who can make plays are, and yes they drop their fair share of passes ut it's a take the good with the bad.

Oh and FTR I was one of the one's defending Cody in the defense thread, so not a Cody basher at all. He's mediocre with room for imporvement. BUT still wuld take Dez,lol.

True but Kindle was the safe pick at the time and had a good mini camp. Even Ray liked and commented on what he saw. Then the accident which no one saw coming. We'd have a good edge rusher if not for that.

VERY true, but we're playing the hindsight being 20/20 game with this thread, lol.

I guess my biggest gripe, esp with this board is everyone who say "No I don't want so and so because their a headcase" blah blah mother fucking blah, just like the Talib thread. Damn Jamal was in FEDERAL court and luckily only got nailed for using his cell phone, but who knows the REAL story? Cmon anyone who has EVER been in a court room knows damn good and well alot of times the person is GUILTY of much more the prosecuter just can't prove it! Oh and our main man Ray was in a damn MURDER investigation, in which we as Ravens fans still to this day get to endure.

If the sumbitch can ball I want him on my team, PERIOD. I don't care if he slaps some stupid hookers around at the strip club, or he accidently catches a DUI or whatever.

Edit: Taking care of said "headcases" is a matter of LEADERSHIP. Lead and Mentor these guys an you won't have that problem. If you can't do it as a coach, hire someone that can. I'd pick up Dez and have a Marine Corps DI follow his stupid ass around 24x7, end of problem.

Yes, that's why I said he was the safe pick at the time. The rest is all hind sight but
we got Dickson and Pitta in that draft that made up for Kindle and Denver took Tebow
and now have nothing to show for for him and the picks they gave Ozzie and everyone said at the time Ozzie picked their pocket. Of course signing Manning made up for all that but
Ozzie got more out of his picks.

So it's a good draft also including Art JOnes and Harewood. Both have played.

With Cody mentioned above, not a bad draft for Ozzie while Dallas still has head aches
with DEZ who was arrested for hitting his own mom.

He didn't slap a hooker around, he slapped his own mum around, that's disgraceful. And it's a BIG deal because he wouldn't be liked in the locker room, guys like Torrey Smith would hate him for who he is. He wouldn't be a good mix at all for us. Yes we've had Jamal Lewis, one of our best players in franchise history, but that was with the OLD ravens. You need to have respect for the game by fucking behaving off the field, it really isn't hard, you have the big money, why do shit like punching your own fucking mum? Or going around chilling with drug dealers? I can take DUI's, I couldn't give a shit about a DUI here and there, that's one thing I'll look past.

And it's stupid to use Ray Lewis as an argument because of what he does for the community and he actually inspires this team and the town, Dez Bryant doesn't even come close to what Ray Lewis does for his team. Anyway, I thought that murder case was solved a long time ago... He didn't murder anyone.

DAMN, DEZ even allegedly ripped her bra after hitting her in face with a base ball cap according to arrest records. She also had a bruised arm.

I'd love to have him just for the lolz. Having a pea brain like that on the team could provide weekly entertainment far beyond the grid iron.

Hell yes I'd love to have another receiving threat along with Smith and Boldin on this team...

This guy only plays when he wants. He is not a good locker room guy. He disappears for entire games at a time. Not thanks. Dallas blows for a reason. Pretty sure he'll be a Jet at some point.

Re: Would you like to have had Dez Bryant?

Going back to the draft I argued that Bryant would not be the superstar that many thought he'd be when they clamored for the Ravens to draft him. I claimed his purely athletic resume would not translate to the NFL and that he would not be football-wise enough to adjust to the league. On the Sun board I got into with a poster named Slidemaster. I finally suggested we check back in two years. I feel like I won the argument. But I still see posts touting Dez, so I assume the guys who like him who thought he was spectacular still see him that way now. I still don't.

Yea, Jones always drafts the glitzy guys instead of the solid pics. He runs the show
instead of hiring someone like Oz and staying the hell out of it. He did well in the pre-
cap era when he could spend more but has won nothing since.

Re: Would you like to have had Dez Bryant?

I've been pretty vocal about how badly Ozzie got outplayed in that draft, letting Dez Bryant and Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez get picked away from us by teams trading up. No, we couldn't predict Kindle would ruin his career, and the TEs we did get have shown flashes of talent, but it's quite clear we missed out on some premium players.

And for anyone talking about Bryant's knucklehead behavior, let's also remember he went to Dallas, which doesn't have a solid locker room atmosphere or any real leaders. I think had he gone to Baltimore or another strong locker room he would have shaped up way better than he has so far. And he has a ton of raw talent.

So yes, I would be thrilled to have him. I'm fine with the receivers we've got, but he was our best chance at getting a prototype WR, one who has size and speed and hands... with where we've been drafting, we'd need to pull off a Falcons-like Julio Jones deal to bring in someone of that caliber for Joe to throw to. Torrey's great, Anquan's good at what he does, Jacoby has some talent... but many of the top passing offenses in this league are that way because they have one guy who demands the very best coverage and can beat it anyway (Calvin Johnson, Andre Johnson, AJ Green, Julio Jones and Roddy White, etc.). We'll need to find a diamond in the rough to get that sort of player as long as we continue to be successful.
