Attention now turns to San Diego
Tough trip to a inconsistent and flawed by dangerous team. How do we go about beating these guys? Would be a huge win to go 9-2 and all but clinch a play off spot early (I know we can't really officially clinch, but are any AFC teams apart from Indi going to get 9 wins outside of the division winnders?).

Re: Attention now turns to San Diego
San Diego has some serious o-line issues. Phillip Rivers has been getting hit a ton, and he's been had to throw under pressure a lot this year. If we can get some decent pressure on Rivers, we should walk away with a win.

Re: Attention now turns to San Diego
They don't have the most rowdy fans, and we seemed to travel pretty well there last year, I'd say that it might be a chance to start up the no huddle offense again. I'd say that we also need to make our commitment to Jones a kick returner, as that was a weapon that we weren't using earlier the in season. And ultimately, it's going to be about getting to Rivers: getting sacks, batting down the balls, and trying to disrupt him.

Re: Attention now turns to San Diego
I could see this game going either way - big loss or big win. They have put up some serious numbers against the Ravens but they've struggled this year. Their defense is not what we faced last night by a long stretch, so the offense should be able to find some holes.
Ravens are favored right now by 2 points.

Re: Attention now turns to San Diego
The Chargers have no receivers right now. Gates is old and hurt. Floyd is decent. Their OL sucks. Their D isn't that great.
Still, this is a road game...on the west coast...and they get up to play the Ravens. The Ravens could still botch this game BIG TIME. Plus, I'm sure they are going to be leaning heavily on Jarrett Johnson for information and tendencies.
The Chargers, from what I've seen, have already packed it in for the season. They are playing uninspired football. That could be the biggest advantage the Ravens have heading into next weekend. When it comes to quarterbacks, don't pay attention to stats; pay attention to guys who make crucial plays at crucial times. -Gil Brandt

Re: Attention now turns to San Diego
It's a tough long trip, and last year we got killed there. Winning would all but assure a playoff spot very early in the season.
Could go either way, they have some talent but like others have said, they aren't the same with out Vjax, and Gates is a shell of himself. If last night's D shows up, we'll win.

I see a L here. West Coast trip sandwiched in between the two best games of the year, it just seems like an easy trap to come out flat. We'll see. Certainly hope I'm wrong.

Hate to be pessamistic, but Rivers has our number like Maryland had his. However, he has played like boler of late, a TO machine. Add to the fact that we got better with Smith ot, and Graham in. The D seems to be coming on litle by little game after game. I'm glad this isnt a national night game, the seem to play much better. Going out after an early Thanksgiving dinner, lots of friends to catch up with. Anyone else going?

Re: Attention now turns to San Diego
I'm leaning on the side of the defense manned up and played last night due to it being Pittsburgh. I say they lay an egg in SD and come back strong at home against Pitt again. SD is a very beatable team, but it will be on the hands of Flacco and the offense to pull it off, which has struggle on the road all year. With Jax not giving us any favors in handing the Texans another loss, a loss to SD won't be as bad as long as they come back and beat Pitt again the following week. A win in SD would be huge though.

Re: Attention now turns to San Diego
Statisically the offensive/defensive rankings on both sides of the ball are very close. The only exception being San Diego's rush defense. They are currently ranked 5th against the run. Turnovers will be the key. The ravens are a +12 while the Chargers are a -3. Despite all the chargers's flaws pointed out in this thread I expect to see a similiar road performance that still results in a win. It's going to be another frustrating game to watch..but hopefully a winning one.

I am inclined to believe we can pull off a W in SD, but with Falco's ineptness on the road, I am not so sure!

Their D is 19th against the pass but 3rd against the run, for what it's worth. Need to work the sidelines, slants and screens
