I'm not quite sure how this will turn out. They blasted us last year, but we took it to them previously and even handed them one of their losses during their 14-2 season.

Then there's the Norv angle. Is this team going to rally around him and do their usual late season push or (hopefully) quit on him?

I was talking to a co-worker that is a Broncos fan. He is saying that the Chargers can't stop the run and turn the ball over a ton. Also, he said the chargers are basically 4 games back in the division because they lost both to the Broncos.

They are a -3 in the turnover margin so there's some truth to it. They do have a top 5 run defense. Perhaps that's misleading because no one runs on them preferring to pass? Maybe a deep dive into their previous box scores would provide some insight.

Denver averaged 5.3 yards per carry and racked up 133 yards rushing on the Chargers.

I don't really know what to expect in San Diego. While Vincent Jackson is gone, Philip Rivers is still very dangerous (sometimes to his own team, but still often to opposing defenses). And their run defense has certainly improved - thanks in part to one Jarret Johnson.

What I'm really hoping to see is our offense actually become functional on the road. We were fortunate in Pittsburgh to face Leftwich, who couldn't do much of anything after his initial drive. 13 points is unlikely to get the job done against Rivers. It's time to show some punch away from M&T.

I think this is a big litmus test for the Ravens. This is not because the Chargers are very good, but because of the background to the game.

The Ravens can win games on the road against all manner of teams, yes. However, check the history:
Ravens have failed to win back to back road games since 2008.
The Ravens lost both times last year coming off victories against the Steelers.
The Ravens have not won on the road after a victory over the Steelers since 2004. The last time they won a road game after winning at Pittsburgh was in 2001.
The Ravens have only ever been unbeaten once in November - 2000.

This game is also sandwiched between another game with the Steelers and flying out west to a team that outmatched us last year. While stats are just stats, it's a good time to overcome it.

Think it'll say an awful lot to get the W in this scenario.

Probably because of Manning. He can audible out of pass plays, unlike our QB.

But yes, Peyton's ability to see what the defense intends to do, before the snap, means they are almost always running the best possible play that could be run at that moment. There aren't many that have that ability (the coach on the field ability).

Okay. So I went ahead and looked up their run defense numbers. The most they gave up was to the Den/cleveland. 133 yards rushing. 2 other teams went over a 100 against them as well (Atlanta, KC twice). So in half their games they yielded less than a 100 yards on the ground. Pretty respectable regardless of the opponents. Although I have to say two of those games involved Denver and New Orleans, two teams that don't need to run the ball to have success.
I also found it alarming that their top 3 tacklers were all from the secondary. Oh and that Antwan Barnes guy, he's having a heck of season, 7 total tackles and 1 sack in 9 games played LOL

I marked this game as a loss before the season. Now it's a maybe W. I still see it as a headache nail biting hard to watch game. Hopefully we can eek out a win. If we can get the kind of pressure we did last night, and with how pathetic their OL is we better, than we can win.

If Cam suddenly gets the flu or some other disaster that he cannot make the game than I'd say we win big. As it stands, with us needing the O to step up it'll be close, maybe Tucker 50 yarder to win the game type close.

IMO we don't run enough motion, which causes the defense to tip their hand, enabling Flacco to get better pre-snap reads.

Perhaps. I recall last year Rivers torching us on at least one play where both the CB and Ed bit hard on fakes. There is no doubt we lose some potential for a big play interception. But I also think we may reduce the chances of getting burnt deep. And we probably gain in terms of tackling on runs and short passes.

I would rather have Ed, but I am not sure Ihedigbo or whoever steps in will mean as much of a drop-off as we would tend to think while still viewing Ed2012 as Ed2004 or even Ed2010.
