Maybe he thought that he'd get cut again from the Steelers once people got healthy.

No idea at all, unless Dixon was really unhappy with how they treated him in Pitt before. Certainly if he had gone back to the Steelers it would've been short-term, possibly as little as three weeks. Still, that's considerably more $$ than he's going to get on the Ravens' practice squad. Perhaps more here than meets the eye ...assuming, of course, that LaCanfora's story is accurate.

Isn't the vet minimum salary about $600K - so 1/16th of that (for each game is) about $40,000. Surely the Ravens can;t be paying him that kind of money to stay on the practice squad.

They should cut someone useless and promote Dixon anyway, we need more QB depth than just Tyrod Taylor IMO.

Its a little bit different story - but granted - not that much to make a significant difference. Its still puzzling. Prehaps the Ravens have promised him a full shot at competing for the #2 backup next year - although its difficult to see him beating out Taylor. What the Ravens really need is a good young stand up pocket passer as a back up - maybe that's in the 2013 draft plans.

What's really strange is that the Ravens already dumped him from their practice squad once. No guarantees he'll stay on it the rest of the season. Dixon doesn't have any security from either team.

Maybe he has seen what playing behind the Steelers O-line is doing to QB's this year and decided that the bump in salary is not enough hazard pay.

Maybe he's just pissed at them for releasing him.

Re: Dennis Dixon tells Steelers he'd rather be on Ravens practice squad than Steelers 53
Dixon has previously stated he likes the Ravens/the entire organization. Maybe just a personal preference and he might think the Ravens could make it to the SB this year. And Shittsburgh, not so much.
At the end of last season, MN wanted a player from GB's PS and he refused. When asked about it, he, in not so many words, implied he wanted to be on a SB team. For which, they had a great shot. Sorry, I don't have a link.

Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

Re: Dennis Dixon tells Steelers he'd rather be on Ravens practice squad than Steelers 53
Things did not end well in Pittsburgh with Dennis Dixon. There was word that Dixon was not a very receptive player to coaching. There was word that Dixon felt he should have received more of a fair chance to be the back up to Roethlisberger than what was given.

Re: Dennis Dixon tells Steelers he'd rather be on Ravens practice squad than Steelers 53
Let's face it. As far as the QB depth chart is concerned Dennis Dixon was always going to be a distant #3 on both depth charts. I think he just likes his situation in Baltimore better given we are legitimate superbowl contenders while the Steelers may very well limp in or out of the playoff picture.
