    Steelers sign Burress

  2. Re: Steelers sign Burress

Won't help them much if they don't have a QB to get him the ball.

Maybe since he and Batch have a little history together they feel he can contribute?

I have always like Burress. He is a big, physical guy. I like the fact that he will playing to prove himself. This could be interesting.

    Andrew Brandt just tweeted ....

Sense that the Steelers-Plaxico contract negotiations sound something like this: "We can only offer you mini...." "Deal!!"

Plaxico won't have much of an impact but the guy thinks he can still bring the productivity of a 25 year old stud to the field. Doubt it. Nothing more than a depth move in my humble opinion. Todd Haley's offense is quite complex altlhough I read they've simplified it a little recently. I would also be a little surprised if Burress was starting too.

Take what Moss has done for the 49ers and divide by 10 and you will get the expected production from Burress.

I don't know why he has been available for so long. Low risk signing, could work out for both parties

AB and Cotchery are both out. AB's HAS isnt healing very well. Remember it was a mild ankle sprain at first but now weeks of dragging on and on. SEE JIMMY SMITH. AB's game is cuts and lateral movement, cant do that with HAS, easily reinjured.

I actually like this signing for them. They need another red zone target outside of Heath Miller. While Burress might be a shell of what he once was, he's certainly still a viable red zone option.

What's the PA law on concealed carry?

One-trick pony, jump ball/end zone fade guy which is useful for sure but not many teams can afford to carry a #3 or #4 receiver who doesn't play special teams.

They should have signed Chad Ochopsycho Johnson too to make it interesting.

It's a good signing for them. He and Roethlisberger are pals. Roethlisberger was never real pleased when they let him go.

He brings an element of height and size that the Steelers haven't had since...well...him. He is also a very good run blocker.

And why not? He has experience, he is a physical receiver, he has experience in the Steeler system, and he has a SB ring. Who else is there? I bet he makes some plays in the coming weeks. Especially if BR comes back in time to throw him the ball. I bet he notches a few TD's. Miller and Burress would be a great RZ tandem.

    R-title-
I was gonna post that Pitt may have shot themselves in the foot (missing their Johnson by a foot or so) with signing Plexiglass, but ya beat me to the punch (AND, your post is probably a lot funnier!)

The Steelers offense is completely different than the one they ran when Plax was last with the team. He'll have no advantage in a Haley dink and dunk system.
