    A Flacco Did You Know

I'm thankful for Flacco, but did you know he has never thrown for 400 yards in a game? Or that he has never thrown for 4 TDs in a game?

I blame this more on scheme than skill, but he's started every game since 2008. You figure he would have lucked into a 400 yard, 4 TD game by now. (He has thrown for 3 TDs and rushed for a TD in a game.)

I think a lot of that is due to the defense and running game we've had. This season we've seen more from flacco with the defense not being as good.

He threw for 4 TDs against the Bears in 09. Most likely would have broken 400 against Cincy and Oakland this year but the didn't play the whole game. Other teams usually need all of 400 in those games to win. When Flacco throws for that many it usually means the game was in hand.

Missed that one. Tried to do that from memory. No 400 yrd throwing games, though....I know he could have, but you would figure that he would have by now.

400 yard games are nothing to crow about. It usually means your team was playing shit defense or your offense turned it over a bunch.

Teams with good defenses rarely need to throw for that many yards. It's usually when games turn into shootouts that huge yardage stats are put up.

You can also add in the factor that 6 of Flacco's games each season are against AFC North defenses, which doesn't help.

He's been close a couple times. But as others have mentioned with the offense and defense he's had, throwing 400 yards hasn't been a neccessary to win games.

Yeah four of those six against perennial powerhouses Cleveland and Cincinnati.

To be fair they both have had good defenses. In the past Cinci had two really good corners. I remember Joe used to struggle against Cinci's defense. One game he threw like 3 or 4 picks.

Yep. Cincy's Cover 2 gave Joe fits.

This league is so obsessed with yards and "rankings" , all that matters is points, 3rd down conversions, and turnover ratio on both sides of the ball.

Amen. Sounds like someone spent too much time jerking it to Brady and Griffin last night. You know, we have a better record than both those teams, right?

I agree, there is more to it than just numbers. If you look at the numbers, Sanchez had a decent game yesterday.

7th in offensive points scored and that's the most important category.

They flashed up that Romo/Romo/Sanford had the top 3 ever passing games on thanksgiving, all over 400, all LOSSES

Fantasy football has corrupted people. It's no longer about winning the game. It is about who scores the most fantasy points.

While I agree with what you say these statistics do at least start the conversation of how good/bad a team is because the absence of any statistics at all would not make for good football debates
