Plenty of perks have come to Ravens players and coaches with the franchise winning Super Bowl XLVII last month. No player, perhaps, has capitalized on the increased spotlight like wide receiver Jacoby Jones.

One year ago, Jones was an outcast in Houston as a member of the Texans and ultimately found himself unemployed. The Ravens signed Jones to a two-year, $7 million contract in May and his hard work during the Ravens’ championship season has paid off. During the Super Bowl, the world caught a glimpse of the absolute goof Jones is in the locker room, where he proudly displays his end zone celbrations.

After featuring two routines in the Super Bowl, Jones left America wanting more – and starting tonight – they’ll get it. Jones will take to the hardwood in the first step of attempting to add another item into his trophy case – the Mirror Ball trophy.

Jones and his dance partner, Karina Smirnoff, have been practicing locally in Owings Mills’ Jewish Community Center and Smirnoff has been taking in on the post Super Bowl festivities. Last week during the Ravens’ DVD release of their NFL Films Super Bowl Champions film, Smirnoff accompanied Jones as his arm candy for the evening. The film essentially was a highlight reel for Jones, and if Smirnoff wasn’t quite sure of the talents her partner had before the event, she definitely knew when she left. She also understood the passion Ravens fans have for their players.

With that passion in mind, Jones and Smirnoff told BaltimoreRavens.com that they’ll be representing Ravens Nation during their opening dance, not only wearing purple but incorporating Ray Lewis’ “Squirrel Dance.”

Smirnoff posted on her Twitter account a quick clip of the duo giving a sneak peak as to what fans can expect for their first performance.

I may be stereotyping but I believe more men than usual in Baltimore will be watching DWTS with their significant others – or even on their own. If for some reason you miss anything, our sister site B’More Chix will have you covered with our own DWTS correspondent.

You can catch all the action on the two-hour season premier of Dancing With The Stars premier tonight beginning at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
