Jameel McClain hosts “53 kids” back to school event

007

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Jameel McClain along with Team McClain joined together with Big Brothers Big Sisters and Modell’s Sporting Goods on Friday evening for their “53 Kids Event”.

Each year many families in Maryland are faced with the struggle of providing their children with the nesscessary  supplies for the upcoming school year. Jameel, through various donations, has made life a little easier this year for 53 students who received backpacks and school supplies from the Ravens linebacker and several teammates.

Joining McClain in distributing the back packs filled with supplies were members of Team McClain along with current Ravens players Elvis Dumervil, James Ihedigbo, Damien Berry, Adrian Hamilton and Albert McClellan.

The smiles filled Modell’s Sporting Goods as each of the 53 kids met and talked to the players about their upcoming school year. One student shouted  ”I can’t wait to start school and tell my teacher a Raven gave me my backpack,” as the players signed her new backpack.

“It’s an opportunity for us to interact with the kids and also provide them with the tools they need for school,” explained Jameel when asked about his involvement with the “53 Kids” event.

I have been fortunate enough to witness how active Jameel McClain is in the community since his arrival here in Baltimore. Through his various charity events, McClain along with Team McClain and Big Brothers Big Sisters, have assisted many people during their time of need.

Not only am I proud that Jameel is a part of the Baltimore Ravens, I am also honored to call him my friend.
