OH SWEET PEA: Ravens Look at Lighter Side of ‘Love Bus’

The Baltimore Ravens sure do seem upset up the alleged Jacoby Jones/Bryant McKinnie “Love Bus” scandal.

They are so upset that during practice teammates poked fun at Jacoby Jones by singing and dancing to a 60’s hit by bubblegum pop star Tommy Roe called “Sweet Pea” according to USA Today.

Now let’s put this into perspective…

Those making the biggest fuss about the incident are outside of Baltimore and they (along with Ray Lewis) want to interpret the night on the town during McKinnie’s birthday as a sign of weakness, as a sign that the Ravens lack leadership.

Now let’s also keep in mind that John Harbaugh doesn’t exactly embrace players who create off-the-field disturbances. So for Harbaugh to allow this mocking of Jacoby Jones suggests that the entire team is well beyond having a problem with Jones and McKinnie – assuming they were ever bothered by it at all.

To his credit, Harbaugh may be using the incident to galvanize the team even more by putting a light-hearted spin on something that in the grand scheme of things wasn’t even as harmful as a 3AM speeding ticket.

Below is Roe’s “Sweet Pea” and while you listen, just imagine the players dancing to the corny tune and playfully mocking Jacoby.

    Jacoby is awesome…..my favorite player on the team because of his personality. Would love to meet the guy before he’s gone, as I can’t see the Ravens paying him next year unless he’s willing to take a substantial pay cut. Enjoy his time here and can’t wait for him to take the field this year.
