The holiday season is upon us and the gift of giving could not have been more evident on Monday night at Toys “R” Us in Glen Burnie, Maryland.

Ravens linebackers Jameel McClain, Dannell Ellerbe and Courtney Upshaw joined the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation to host a shopping spree event in which children from the YES Mentorship program shopped for toys for children who benefit from the program.

The Youth Empowered to Succeed Program (YES) was designed to help children in the Baltimore Metropolitan Region reach their destiny through relationships with caring mentors focused on enhancing academic achievement, raising self-esteem, empowering youth toward self-sufficiency, and providing access to a global community.

“It’s all about the kids tonight” Ravens linebacker Jameel McClain responded when asked about his support of the event. “We are
here to help anyway we can”, added Dannell Ellerbe.

The players were escorted around the store by local Marines and helped the chidren pick out toys. Once the shopping was completed, the Marines loaded the toys onto a truck, and the gifts will be delivered to the children for the holidays.

“This is just a awesome thing to do for these young kids for Christmas,” Courtney Upshaw chimed in as the night came to an end.

An awesome thing to do for sure. Christmas came early for the kids that night in Glen Burnie, Maryland – one that won’t soon be forgotten by them or myself.
