Let’ face it, Cleveland. We own you.

It’s a simple theory really. Do you all remember the T-Shirt Torrey Smith wore at the Super Bowl parade, the one that simply read ” Rings don’t lie” in Purple lettering?

Well, statistics don’t lie either.

With that being said, let’s take a look at the Ravens uber-successful history against their despised in-division rivals:

-In franchise history, the Ravens own a 12-3 record at home and a 10-5 record on the road against the Browns, resulting in a commanding 22-8 Baltimore lead heading into this week’s clash in Cleveland.

-Before losing 24-18 in Cleveland on 11/3/2013, The Ravens won eleven straight contests against the Browns, snapping from 9/21/2008 to 9/15/2013.

-The twenty-two wins against the Browns are the most victories the Ravens franchise has registered versus a single opponent since the franchise’s inaugural 1996 season and they are also the only team the Ravens have beaten 10+ times both home and away.

– The Ravens have outscored the Browns 682-424 in the history of the Baltimore-Cleveland rivalry that spans the course of thirty games, meaning the trademark Ravens Defense has held the Browns to just 14.1 PPG in All-Time head-to-head match-ups, while the +258 point differential is the highest the Ravens have recorded against a single opponent.

However, let’s not forget that this is an AFC North rivalry after all……there has been several incredible games between these two combatants over recent years. Let’s take a brief moment to walk down memory lane and summarize the top five Ravens-Browns games in recent memory:

#5- 9/27/09, Ravens 34, Browns 3– The most recent dismantling of the Browns. Led by QB Joe Flacco (25/35, 342 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT), WR Derrick Mason (5/118/1), RB Willis Mcgahee (7/67/2 TD) and a superb all-around Defensive performance, the Ravens coasted in this one in front of the M&T Bank faithful.

#4- 11/16/2009, Ravens 16, Browns 0. Of course I had to put the most recent shutout of the Browns on the list! An amazing display of defensive cohesiveness, a 13-yard TD run from Ray Rice and a 48-yard pick-six from S Dawan Landry just 17 seconds apart in the 3rd quarter made all of the difference in this November walk-in-the-park win for the Ravens in front of a bitter Dawg Pound.

#3- 11/2/2008, Ravens 37, Browns 27. Facing a 14 point deficit in the 2nd Half, the Ravens pulled off a dramatic comeback that included an equalizing 28-yard strike from Flacco-to-Mason, followed by a go-ahead FG by the legendary Matt Stover, and capped off with a 42-yard pick-six by OLB Terrell Suggs.

#2- 9/24/2006, Ravens 15, Browns 14. Down 14-3 in the 4th quarter, the Ravens pull off another comeback victory behind a ferocious D that racked up seven sacks, WR Derrick Mason (7/132), and the iconic QB Steve McNair ( 23 for 41, 264 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT), who found TE Todd Heap for a three-yard TD to start the comeback, which was capped off by a game-winning 52-yard field goal by Matt Stover with 0:20 remaining.

#1- 11/18/2007, Browns 33, Ravens 30 (OT) Of course, this had to happen on my birthday…..So I’ll probably always remember it! I know most refer to this as the ” Dawson kick” game, but let’s take a look at what an incredible game it was before the controversy:

Again facing a 27-13 deficit, the Ravens sparked a remarkable 4th quarter comeback in which QB Kyle Boller found WR Devard Darling for an equalizing 27-yard score before K Matt Stover drilled his third field goal of the fourth quarter to give the Ravens the 30-27 advantage.

Then, with the clock ticking down to zero, Browns kicker Phil Dawson tried a 51-yard FG attempt which clanked the left upright, then careened off of the support beams of the goal post and onto the end zone ground. The field goal was ruled no good, and as the Ravens were celebrating the thrilling come-from-behind win, the refs quickly gathered for a prolonged amount of time before Referee Peter Morelli announced that the call was overturned and the game was going to OT. Chaos ensued, but the game went into overtime, and ironically, the Ravens lost on a 33-yard FG by Dawson.
