Ravens still “in love with” free agents

Happy Harbs

We saw the blockbuster Joe Flacco deal, Elvis Dumervil and the fax machine fiasco, and even Ed Reed getting two tickets to a paradise called Houston.

But what can we expect next as Ravens fans?

In recent weeks the Ravens have been inactive when it comes to the free agent market, but that does not mean they have backed down from contemplating a move.

“There are still players who are out there unsigned, and we’re in love with, so personnel-wise, yeah,” said John Harbaugh according to BaltimoreRavens.com

Most of Ravens Nation would agree that, ‘In Ozzie We Trust.’ So there really should be little concern over whether the Ravens make a move to augment the roster or not. Either way we will field a solid unit.

Yet Harbaugh’s comment begs the question, “Who are these free agents the Ravens are in love with?”

Well if I had to guess here are a few key names that could potentially be on the other end of the Ravens’ Love Connection:

WR: Brandon Lloyd, Laurent Robinson, Steve Breaston, Braylon Edwards, Randy Moss, Brandon Stokley, Austin Collie, Chad Johnson, Deion Branch, and Early Doucet.

FB: Vonta Leach – Leach is still available and currently in various forms of discussions with the N.Y. Giants, Miami Dolphins, and your Baltimore Ravens.

ILB: Nick Barnett (WLB/MLB in 4-3), Bart Scott, Takeo Spikes, Paris Lenon, Bradie James, Larry Grant (suspended four games), Barrett Ruud, Gary Guyton, Mike Peterson and Brandon Siler

There are a several other free agents still on the market, but these are just a few that could possibly don the purple and black in 2013.

Who would you like to see John Harbaugh & Co. connect with this season?

8 Raves on “Ravens still “in love with” free agents

Out of all of those names you mentioned, I see three that would help the team: Leach, Brandon Stokely and Deion Branch. I still believe that the Ravens need another receiver. Spikes could work at a linebacker position, but the rest of those names still aren’t signed for a good reason– they suck or have lost a few steps, a la Ray Lewis had.

Not sure if it would work out or not, or if the Ravens would want him (he’s older now), but it would be nice to see Bart Scott come back to Baltimore.

Dallas Clark anyone? Sure it would take some ingenuity to use him, Pitta, and Dickson adequately… But I could see it happen and would welcome the possibilities.
