Ravens Trade Bryant McKinnie to Miami

Rice McKinnie SB XLVII 600

The Baltimore Ravens are finally free of the Bryant McKinnie saga.

After three weeks of speculation that the team would trade McKinnie, it was reported today (first by Jay Glazer of FOX) that it looks like he is taking his talents (or lack of) to South Beach to join the Miami Dolphins.

Coach Harbaugh stated at today’s press conference that he anticipates the Ravens receiving a conditional late-round pick for McKinnie. It is unknown at this point whether it will be a sixth or seventh round draft pick.

Earlier this month the Ravens acquired Eugene Monroe and the writing was on the wall for McKinnie. His lack of production on the offensive line left much to be desired, and coupled with the party bus incident in D.C., here we are.

McKinnie was quoted by NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport as saying that it’s”great to get a chance to play” in front of the same fans that cheered him at the University of Miami.

While the move leaves the Ravens with little depth on the offensive line, the team looks to be comfortable with rookie Rick Wagner as the back-up to Monroe.

McKinnie becomes number ten on the list of players from the Super Bowl victory that are not with the team just eight months later.

I don`t think you should diss on McKinnie too much, he was one of the main reasons the O-line was soooo good throughout the SB run, IMO we probably wouldn`t have won the SB last yr. without him.

  2. bacchys on said:

It’s not lack of talent. McKinnie has had the talent during his career to be a HOF left tackle. What he lacks is the attitude and ethic.

Agreed that the harsh words towards McKinnie may be too much for one who was instrumental in our post season success. But stepping up only when needed isn’t what the Ravens need now.

Best of luck McKinnie and take out a few Cheating Patriots!

  4. Ebuhuel on said:

Yes McKinnie was real good in the superbowl run last year, but remember he got paycut and benched in the beginning of the season aswel for not having the work ethic.

A multi-million dollar player shouldn’t be that hard to motivate to play at a high level all the time, sure everybody has bad games but not that long and not making to effort to reach your target weight.
