Ravens vs. Vikings Friday Injury Report and Game Status

The Ravens could be without their best pass rusher when the Minnesota Vikings come to town Sunday, as Elvis Dumervil missed practice for the third straight day, and is officially listed as doubtful for the game. There is certainly an argument to be made that, if Doom needs to miss a game to heal up, this is the one to miss.

In other “will he or won’t he” news, Ravens fans are once again eager to see if #88 steps on the field for the first time since the Super Bowl this weekend. The Ravens have until Saturday afternoon to add Dennis Pitta to the 53-man roster; if they don’t do it this week, they’ll have until Wednesday if they want to use him at all this year. Pitta practiced fully this week (he’s not the injury reports because he’s not currently a member of the active roster), and with John Harbaugh saying that he has a “reasonable chance” to play, the bet here is that he does.

“It felt good all week,” said Pitta when asked about practicing on his injured hip. “It’s nice to get back in and go through full practices and stuff. We’ll see.”

As for the Vikings, they’ll be without Christian Ponder, meaning that Matt Cassel will make the start at QB. In yesterday’s injury report, I detailed how miserable his life has been when he plays the Ravens, so that bodes well for Baltimore. While Adrian Peterson is listed as questionable, you can be sure that he’ll be playing. However, another big absence for the Vikings is tight end Kyle Rudolph – considering the way Heath Miller treated the Ravens on Thanksgiving (8 rec, 86 yards), it’s nice that the opponent will be without their top weapon in the middle of the field (whether it would be his first action since Week 9 or not).
