Ravens win, but secondary play remains very concerning

The Ravens came out of the Dawg Pound alive on Sunday, but not without a brutal fight against a now 2-7 Cleveland Browns team. Offensively, the story stayed the same. The play calling was inconsistent most of the 2nd and 3rd quarters, and the breakaway speed of Torrey Smith wasn’t even recognized. Dennis Pitta only had one grab, and Flacco only completed passes to two WR’s throughout the game. Despite 3 Interceptions, Williams Gets No Respect

Despite leading the team in interceptions with his third in as many games, Cary Williams was still looked at as the weak-link in the Ravens secondary when the game was on the line. Dez Bryant beat Williams for touchdowns twice on Sunday and aside from dropping the potential game-winning two-point conversion with 36-seconds left, he had a successful day against the Ravens secondary. If you wanted more variety for the Ravens’ pass rush, you got it Thursday. The Ravens used a blend by scheme and number. While they only sacked Weeden once in 53 passes, they knocked him down on 9 other occasions, generated an intentional grounding penalty, and induced a hold. So we learned this morning that the NFLRA reached an agreement with puppet Roger Goodell on a new eight year deal and that the authentic zebras will take the field tonight at M&T Bank Stadium.
