EMBRACE THE GRIND: The Ravens Prepare to Defend Their Title

Embrace the grind
Winning a championship in any sport on any level isn’t easy. It’s the byproduct of hard work, preparation, determination, perseverance and talent. And in the NFL it’s also about being at the right place at the right time. In 2012 it could be argued that the Baltimore Ravens weren’t the league’s most talented team. Many have said that the 2011 squad was better than the most recent Super Bowl Champions. But last year’s team, like many champions before them, caught fire at just the right time and rode the wave...

Did Ravens mismanage Haloti Ngata’s injury?

Haloti Ngata
Limping to the mid-way point of the NFL season, Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes goes from a jingle players sing to their children, to a refrain sung to team doctors when they ask, “what hurts?” Haloti Ngata is amongst those leading the choir as he has been battered and bruised the past few weeks. In particular, Ngata has a shoulder injury and during the win over the Dallas Cowboys, Ngata sprained the MCL in his right knee. It’s interesting how much attention the cheering of Matt Cassel’s injury by Chiefs fans at Arrowhead Stadium is receiving. I was there. I was amongst the fans. I watched it happen. I heard the cheers. And it wasn’t what Chiefs’ right tackle Eric Winston described. It’s understandable that Winston is upset. After all a teammate who relies on his health to provide for his family was knocked out cold on the turf at Arrowhead. It’s also equally understandable that Winston can’t really appreciate the emotions of a Chiefs fan at...
