It has been a roller-coaster type of week for Ravens rookie wide receiver Aaron Mellette. On Thursday, Mellette caught his first career NFL touchdown — the only pass thrown his way. The following practice, coach John Harbaugh tore him a new one. “Get number 13 off the field,” Harbaugh yelled to the sidelines, criticizing Mellette on a field in front of fans watching practice on a small hill near the sidelines. “He’s lackadaisical and lazy, get number 13 off the field.” Mellette was just one of a handful of players...

Players feel the wrath of John Harbaugh

After hoisting the Lombardi trophy, the corresponding roster moves spoke volumes as to who the undisputed leader of the Ravens would be. Owner Steve Bisciotti made it clear that Joe Flacco would be the on-field leader now that Ray Lewis had retired, but make no mistake about it – this is John Harbaugh’s team. Standing near the sidelines for today’s training camp practice, we heard a very testy Harbaugh who had no problem publicly shaming a few players who were either underperforming or being disobedient. As a typical training camp...

Pollard’s Termination Letter from Ravens Fuels Motivation

Pollard Titans
Athletes and football players alike employ many different tactics intended to provide additional motivation. For some players, it’s being told they’re not good enough. For others, it may be smack talk from an opponent that eventually becomes locker room bulletin board material. For former Ravens safety Bernard Pollard, his determination will be driven by termination. NFL Network’sĀ Albert Breer tweeted a photo of Pollard’s locker, now a member of the Tennessee Titans. Pinned inside the locker is a Notice of TerminationĀ sent by the Baltimore Ravens on March 14, 2013, a day...

B-Mac dropped the Big Mac’s After being held out of practice yesterday due to weight concerns, left tackle Bryant McKinnie joined his teammates for the second full day of training camp. McKinnie had agreed when he re-signed with the Ravens to play lighter than his 2012 playing weight of 352 pounds. As you can see in the picture below, for a 6-8 athlete that doesn’t play in the NBA, McKinnie doesn’t look that bad. Secondary Standouts Ravens fans were pleasantly surprised with cornerback Corey Graham’s contributions last season in the...

Harbaugh Mum On Vonta Leach’s Return

vonta_leach_21_med
A report from the Newark Star Ledger claimed that former Ravens fullback Vonta Leach would make a decision on which team he would play for by Friday. The report also said that he was leaning towards the Ravens. Following Friday’s training camp practice, I asked head coach John Harbaugh if he had heard anything from his former fullback. “I don’t know where that came from,” Harbaugh said, refuting the report. “We have no update, nothing new on that.” Unless a mystery team has emerged, Leach doesn’t appear to have any...

Billy Cundiff may ruin another Harbaugh’s Super Bowl run

Cundiff Sad
Billy Cundiff will once again have an opportunity to shorten a Harbaugh’s Super Bowl run. Earlier today, the San Francisco 49ers signed the former Ravens kicker to compete with their struggling kicker David Akers. Much like Cundiff has done before, Akers is following a Pro Bowl season with one that will potentially cost him his job. At 69.0 percent, Akers has the second-worst kicking percentage in the NFL, missing 13 of his 42 attempts during the regular season. The most surprising factor in Cundiff’s signing is that it appears 49ers...
