A Knucklehead Retires: The end to Rolando McClain’s NFL career

Raiders McClain
The Rolando McClain experiment in Baltimore is over, as the former linebacker has pulled the plug on his career full of knuckle-headed mistakes. “Rolando let me know that he plans to retire from the NFL,” Ravens general manager and executive vice president Ozzie Newsome said. “We have placed him on the Reserve/Retired list.” A once promising career is now over at the age of 23. After being drafted with the eighth overall pick in 2010 by the Oakland Raiders, McClain’s mistakes led him to being released prematurely, not even receiving … Continue reading

Brandon Williams won’t walk on his hands anymore; benches 500 lbs.

Brandon Williams
Now that the draft has concluded and rookie mini-camps have began, Ravens fans will begin to familiarize themselves with the team’s freshest faces. During the week since Brandon Williams was taken off the board by the Ravens in the third round (94th overall), no one on the roster has received more attention. Even though most haven’t heard of Williams before last week, the 335 pound defensive tackle has found himself routinely standing out in small places. While in school at Missouri Southern State, Williams played his way into being named … Continue reading

Rolando McClain Arrested (again)

McClain Arrested
Well… that didn’t take long. WHNT in Huntsville, Al. is reporting that Rolando McClain has been arrested Sunday night for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. This latest development will mark the second time McClain has been arrested this offseason. Witnesses told WHNT that McClain was with a large group of people in a park and refused to leave when ordered by police. McClain, who routinely trash-talks police officers as he would an opponent on the football field continued with his disregard for law enforcement and cursed at them. In case … Continue reading

Ravens to sign QB Caleb Hanie per report

Caleb-Hanie
In the wake of the disregard for human life displayed in Boston earlier this afternoon, let’s distract ourselves a little bit with talking about anything besides acts of terrorism. Our topic of distraction will be about the Ravens beginning to make moves to fill out training camp roster spots and news comes that a quarterback is likely one of their first additions. A league source tells ESPN’s Chicago Bears writer Jeff Dickerson that Caleb Hanie is expected to sign with the Ravens. Last year, Hanie was the third quarterback on … Continue reading

Brendon Ayanbadejo bids the Ravens farewell

ayanbadejo
It appears the Ravens and three-time Pro Bowl special teams ace Brendon Ayanbadejo are parting ways. Once officially released, the Ravens will have to eat $266,666 in dead money; however, they’ll save $1.762 million over the remaining two-years of the three-year extension Ayanbadejo signed prior to the start of the 2012 season. For purposes of this year’s salary cap, the Ravens will save $807,000. Ayanbadejo tweeted the following on Wednesday afternoon:           Ayanbadejo’s release isn’t a surprise, it was almost expected. For most of his career, … Continue reading

Ravens bolster defensive line, sign Marcus Spears to a two-year deal

Marcus Spears
Signings by the Baltimore Ravens during free-agency haven’t been marquee, but general manager Ozzie Newsome has been clearing the way for fresh, young blood. Even though Newsome will attempt to build most of the vacant spots on defense through the draft, he has helped a struggling defensive line with inexpensive veteran talent. On Wednesday, Newsome signed former New York Giant Chris Canty, and today he has made another move to add veteran depth with recent salary cap casualties. The Ravens have signed former Dallas Cowboys’ DE Marcus Spears to a … Continue reading

An Open Letter To Pete Prisco

Pete-Prisco
Dear Pete, Hello, my name is Kris Jones, I am a Ravens fan and cover the team for RussellStreetReport.com. Following the Ravens 34-31 win in Super Bowl XLVII, you and I engaged in a debate on Twitter. The exchange started when I saw the following message come across my timeline from your account.         You are a respected journalist. Did you actually write this? Maybe you didn’t. This may be a good time to say that your log-in information was hacked. I’ll admit, I’ve been critical of … Continue reading

Federal Hill Victory Party (Time-lapse video)

Fed Hill Party
Just a short walk from Baltimore’s iconic Inner Harbor lies the quiet and historic Federal Hill. Fed Hill, as its known, is one of the three main bar districts in Baltimore City, and is known as the party spot – and one hell of a party spot if your team wins the Super Bowl. Mother’s Federal Hill Grille has long been known as the epicenter of any Ravens related activity in the city outside of M&T Bank Stadium. Their “Purple Patio” and painted asphalt football field is the playground for … Continue reading

Denver’s Mayor injured while practicing Ray Lewis’ dance

denvermayor
Politicians are rarely taken seriously and the following story will add one more piece of evidence to the ever-growing list of why that is. This is certainly true because it’s all too good to even attempt to make up. Whenever there is a major sporting event, politicians jump at the opportunity for additional PR. They create wagers between themselves and the rival area’s person of the same political office (mayor vs. mayor, governor vs. governor, etc). This was once again the case last week as Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and Denver … Continue reading

Twitter Roundup: Ravens react to victory in Denver

Fed Hill Party
Sunday’s double overtime thriller in Denver was probably the second greatest win in franchise history after Super Bowl XXXV. Emotions were displayed on the faces of everyone on the team, and the amazement on Ray Lewis’ face easily painted the picture of how the players were feeling. Fans were ecstatic as well. Throughout Baltimore, fireworks were set off in neighborhoods, people honked car horns, banged pots and pans as they ran up and down the street and Federal Hill looked like Bourbon Street as people left their favorite watering hole … Continue reading

Billy Cundiff may ruin another Harbaugh’s Super Bowl run

Cundiff Sad
Billy Cundiff will once again have an opportunity to shorten a Harbaugh’s Super Bowl run. Earlier today, the San Francisco 49ers signed the former Ravens kicker to compete with their struggling kicker David Akers. Much like Cundiff has done before, Akers is following a Pro Bowl season with one that will potentially cost him his job. At 69.0 percent, Akers has the second-worst kicking percentage in the NFL, missing 13 of his 42 attempts during the regular season. The most surprising factor in Cundiff’s signing is that it appears 49ers … Continue reading

Bryant McKinnie Sued For $375k In Strip Club Debt

Detroit Lions v Baltimore Ravens
Bryant McKinnie’s debt is becoming more massive than he is. Once again, the Ravens backup left tackle is in the news and it should come as no surprise it’s once again about money. NBC Miami has reported the father of rapper Trick Daddy, Charles “Pop” Young, is suing McKinnie for negative debt incurred between February 2009 and September 2010. Young claims McKinnie borrowed money and never repaid it while frequenting strip club establishments under Young’s ownership. This season has been tough for McKinnie, as he’s done more blocking of lawsuits … Continue reading

Report: Suggs Targeting And Expecting To Play Sunday

Suggs Arms Open
This morning, ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Terrell Suggs is targeting and is expecting to make a comeback from his Achillies injury on Sunday versus the Houston Texans. Conflicting reports have surfaced in regards to when Suggs would make his return but few saw this coming, especially from such a reliable and credible source like Schefter. Yesterday, Suggs stepped foot onto an NFL practice field for the first time this season and  speculation was that he’d return sometime after the Ravens bye week. During his first on-field appearance in … Continue reading

During the show, Reed told Younes that he’s been playing with a labrum tear and it may have been affecting his play on the field. Tackling was an issue for Reed against the Dallas Cowboys. Reed missed a total of four tackles, which allowed the … Continue reading
