The Ravens are just another “lucky” Maryland sports team

It seems to be a common theme these days in the national media to say a Maryland sports team can’t do something. This summer, it was “the Baltimore Orioles can’t sustain winning one-run games.”
Then, month after month, it was about how “the Orioles can’t keep winning because of their run differential.” Then after that blew up in their faces, it was, “Baltimore doesn’t have enough pitching to be a legit playoff team.”
It gets funny after a while. The Orioles not only made the playoffs, but they also defeated the defending American League champion Texas Rangers in their own house. It seems to have carried over to the Ravens.
All we have heard the past three months is how lucky the Baltimore Ravens are. Their close wins against the Patriots and the Cowboys are the high profile games people look to first. We have also heard about how the Ravens won’t survive without Ray Lewis and Lardarius Webb.
Well, they have.
They also said the same about Terrell Suggs.
Yet, the team keeps winning.
The Ravens enter this week at 9-2, and all anyone in the media or fans around the country talk about is how flawed the Ravens are. The latest talking point is about the Ravens “easy schedule.”
Wow really? It’s that easy? All the Ravens have done is battle against the NFC East, the same division that people on ESPN, FOX, CBS, NFL NETWORK, etc., talk about on a daily basis. Now when the Ravens have them on their schedule, it’s “easy?”
The Patriots are on the schedule too you know. Who is in the AFC EAST again?
They just keep the excuses coming. When the Ravens win, it’s what the other team did wrong. When the Ravens lose, that’s football.
Keep crying, talking heads.
Week by week, each team seems to fall victim to the Baltimore Ravens.
(A side note – people are talking trash about the Maryland Terps athletic program. Funny, last time I checked, Maryland has 39 national championships in the ACC which is more than any other team in the conference. And on top of that they are getting more money to go to the Big Ten. Now the ACC is demanding they pay a huge exit fee. The fun continues.)
Alright, let’s get back to the Ravens. Instead of questioning Baltimore winning, others should be concerned that they are not even playing their best ball yet, but they keep winning.
Like always, Maryland sports teams have to teach the rest of America a hard lesson. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
