Game 2 -September 20, 2011
After the near perfect game against the Steelers it was clear there was potential for a letdown for the first road test of the season. What we saw was much more than a letdown; it was an offensive debacle the likes of which this team can’t afford to repeat any time soon.
It’s clear why the offense struggled in Tennessee by just looking at a few key team stats. Neither of the two trips to the red zone ended in a touchdown. There were three turnovers, and third down conversions were just 30%. Combine these sad numbers with QB Joe Flacco completing just 47% of his passes and you see how even a playoff contender can lay an egg on the road.
Red zone percentage is a major measuring stick for an offense. After two games the Ravens rank 12th in the AFC and are the only team in their division with a conversion rate of less than 50%.
BTN will track the progress here on a weekly basis. Keep in mind for some categories a decrease is positive, as in the case of Fumbles lost, and an increase is negative, in as the case of Penalties.
