Wednesday Injury Status Report: Ravens v. Browns

Jacoby v Browns

Today the Baltimore Ravens placed rookie wide receiver Aaron Mellette on Injured Reserve to make room for the recently acquired RB Shaun Draughn. Draughn is a backup runner with some return capabilities and filled a need, one created by the ill-advised release of RB Bobby Rainey on August 31.

The move of Mellette to IR is a curious one but if you’ve paid attention to Ravens’ roster maneuvering at this time of year, mystery injuries often surface when the team likes a player but doesn’t want to risk losing him during the waiver process before he can be parked on the practice squad.

The move may also save recently re-acquired WR Tandon Doss – at least until Jacoby Jones returns.

Here’s the Injury Report Status for Wednesday (today).

BALTIMORE RAVENS

OUT: WR Jacoby Jones (knee)

DID NOT PARTICIPATE: C Ryan Jensen (foot), WR Deonte Thompson (foot), DT Brandon Williams (toe)

LIMITED PARTICIPATION: DT Art Jones (illness – NFI); RB Bernard Pierce (thigh)

NOTE: Don’t expect any of the DNP’s to play this Sunday.

CLEVELAND BROWNS
