Will the Ravens’ Coaches Give Tyrod the Ball?

EARLY BIRD: Waking up with the Ravens in The Windy City

Two-minute topic: Will backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor become a bigger part of the offense?

We finally got a glimpse of what Taylor is capable of last Sunday against the Bengals. The only time he touched the football, he gained 18 yards on a reverse. That’s the kind of positive play the Ravens sorely need. An exceptional athlete, Taylor enjoyed getting a chance to contribute, and hopes that more opportunities will come during the final two months of the season.

“You always want to help your team win games,” Taylor said Friday in the Ravens’ locker room. “I think the coaching staff has a good idea of ways I may be able to help. When I’m called, I just have to be ready.”

How often, and how much, the Ravens plan to use Taylor remains top-secret information in the locker room. The Ravens want to have the element of surprise on their side. Maybe we’ll see Taylor in the Wildcat formation Sunday against the Bears. Maybe we will see him throw a pass, run the read option, or maybe we won’t see him at all.

Regardless of how much he played, Taylor said he has mastered the challenge of staying prepared.

Just putting that play in against the Bengals ensures Chicago wastes about 4 hours of preparation time trying to figure out what Baltimore might do with Taylor and how to stop it. His ability affects the game even when he doesnt play, imagine what he could do given a few tries. By my math 18 yards times 5 plays equals a touchdown. Would be nice to see him a couple times.

Still can’t believe some people believe Taylor should start in place of Flacco. Not to put the guy down, but there is a reason he’s a backup QB and not a starter. Flacco, at times, has helped carry the offense this season. Not at all times, but sometimes.

If Taylor was running the Pistol then we would be better this season on offense. No doubt at all. But if he started in place of Flacco then that would certainly damage Flacco’s confidence which we cannot chance. Still, we should use T T at times because our offense is so bad.

Hairball should never have changed the scheme on offense. We just hired a new OC & HB under-minded his authority by hiring his buddy from Phily. This was a power-play by HB.
      Politics.

yeah, since he has played neither position ever in a game…plus, he is our back up qb, if he gets hurt running the ball, you take a big risk losing him.
