Window of Opportunity: Pitch & Catch Tandem Comes Through

Facing a third and 10 from the San Diego Chargers 47 yard line with 2:27 remaining and possibly the last offensive play of the game, Joe Flacco hit Torrey Smith with a well-placed back shoulder throw down the right sideline.

Smith leaped well above the defender Quintin Jammer and snatched the ball just before contact. Smith showed strong hands while tucking the ball away and successfully finishing the 31-yard completion.

The play put the Baltimore Ravens comfortably within rookie kicker Justin Tucker’s range. Four plays later Tucker took advantage of the Thompson Creek Window of Opportunity provided by the pitch and catch tandem of Flacco and Smith and booted a walk off, game winning 38-yard field goal.
