YouTube Sensations Survive a Close Call

Beauty of Ashes

Prior to the AFC Championship Game an entertaining little band called Beauty for Ashes was brought to my attention because they had just recorded a video entitled “Bring on Brady”, a parody of “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen.

The band consists of couple Matt and Sarah Robins and proud Poppa Stan Robins.

The trio’s video, obviously the brainchild of diehard Ravens fans, went viral and today it has been seen over 423,000 times.

The Salisbury-based answer to Lady Antebellum possesses a spirited and fun-loving energy, clearly deserving of the attention they commanded. But recently Matt and Sarah along with their twins Ariana and Lyla attracted some attention of the unwanted variety when their Honda Odyssey was struck by a pickup truck.

The results could have been disastrous. Stan explains the near fatal accident in this email:

On July 4th, around noon, my son Matt Robins, daughter-in-law Sarah Mitchell Robins, and their twin toddlers, Ariana and Lyla were in a horrific car accident. Miraculously, everyone survived as they were T-boned by a large pickup truck carrying a horse trailer going 55 mph. (horse trailer was empty). Arriving on the scene so soon after the crash, I was greeted by the most excruciating thing any parent or grandparent could ever experience.

The emergency workers thought we might lose one of the girls. Everyone was rushed to PRMC and from there. I flew in the helicopter with Ari while Lyla was transported in the second.

Matt and Sarah were too banged up and still being treated. Hours later they would be discharged and my rock and beautiful wife, Trish Robins drove them up to Hopkins to meet us.

Meanwhile back at Hopkins, I tried to comfort Ari who was in terrible pain with a bruised lung and broken collarbone. Lyla arrived 30 minutes after her sister and was conscious as they wheeled her into the ER room next to her sister. She had thrown up on the helicopter ride.

My dear daughter, Krissy Finch and her hubby, Alex Finch arrived from Westminster and immediately went to work bringing comfort and fun distractions to the girls! They were amazing and I could never have done it by myself.

The girls loved the Minnie Mouse coloring book and other reading books. We bounced between the two bends for around 4-5 hours before Matt and Sarah and Trish arrived.

We are all home now. The recovery will be quick we hope. I could go on about the sweet reunion of the girls yesterday (Lyla was released a day earlier).

But I just wanted to thank everyone for their prayers and acts of kindness. My amazing friend and Pastor Jason B Shelton who was there to meet us in the ER to support and pray for us. Thank you Honda Odyssey (incredible van that protected them in what should have been a fatal accident).

Elise Goad was a great comfort to Sarah as everyone was running around assisting the wee ones. Most of all, I’m eternally grateful to a loving God who spared us from the most devastating possible outcome.

I love my God and my family more than ever.

Blessed,

Stan Robins

I’ve often said that if this website ever fell flat on its face, I would have no regrets because it has blessed me with the opportunity to meet and come in contact with wonderful people like the Robins.

Stan thanks for taking the time to reach out and share your story. I’m elated that your family dodged a disaster and emerged relatively unscathed. I hope that your story touches Ravens Nation in a way that brings even one person closer to their family or more dialed into their spiritual beliefs.

Here’s to your family and a speedy recovery.

And to more playoff inspired videos from Beauty for Ashes.
