McAlister, a three-time Pro Bowl selection who leads the Ravens with three interceptions, has had problems with the knee dating back to last season and received second opinions from doctors in Florida and Canada.
McAlister started five games this season prior to being benched against the Miami Dolphins after yielding two touchdown passes to wide receiver Marvin Harrison in a 31-3 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. His status for next season is in doubt because of his $8 million base salary, his age, 32, and not meshing well with the new regime by violating team rules.
Meanwhile, Landry is still experiencing tingling sensations in his neck after suffering a spinal cord concussion against the Cleveland Browns in the third game of the season.
Landry was carted off the field following a scary collision with Browns running back Jamal Lewis where Lewis’ knee struck the crown of his helmet.
The Ravens signed linebacker Robert McCune, who played in two games for Baltimore last season and was cut by the team after training camp in August this year, and former San Francisco 49ers and Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Marcus Maxwell.
A 6-foot-3, 210-pound former 49ers seventh-round draft pick from Oregon in 2005, Maxwell caught one pass last season in five games with the Bengals. He was released by Cincinnati in an injury settlement after being placed on injured reserve with a thigh injury during the preseason.
The Ravens have placed 16 players on injured reserve this season, the highest total in the AFC North.
