Cardinals, Kurt Warner is on pace to throw for 32 scores, just 11 interceptions, and 5,048 yards, he has my vote as MVP as of today.  He won the MVP award in 1999 and 2001, throwing for 41 touchdowns in 1999 and thirty six in 2001.  That said he had more than 11 interceptions in both of his previous MVP seasons and the projected 5,048 yards would be a career high. If he wins this year that would give him the MVP award nine seasons apart, 1999 to 2008, the second longest time span between this prestigious honor in league history.  The longest span between MVP’s belongs to John Unitas who won the first of his three MVP trophies in 1957 and his last in 1967, he also won in 1964.  Nothing says more about dominating an era than winning this award that many seasons apart.  The difference of course in this comparison between Unitas and Warner is that Warner was not a factor between 2002 – 2006….Falcons,  former Raven FB Ovie Mughelli is the most deserving amongst NFC fullbacks to make a trip in February to Honolulu as the conference’s starting fullback in the Pro Bowl. The Falcons are second in the NFL in rushing with 153.4 yards a game on the ground….Ravens, back to John Unitas for a moment.  Here’s an interesting comparison between Joe Flacco and Baltimore’s favorite son: In his first ten games Flacco has completed 171 of 276 passes, 62% completion percentage for 1,813 yards with 8 touchdowns and nine interceptions, while compiling a 6-4 record.  In Unitas’ first ten games as a starter he was 132 for 216 for 1,792 yards, 61% completion percentage with 14 touchdowns and twelve interceptions and he too sported a 6-4 record after his first ten games….

Bengals, Carson Palmer will miss yet another game this week but has not ruled out coming back this year…Broncos, Arkansas rookie Peyton Hillis is the latest running back of the week for the Broncos. Denver’s backfield is so depleted that they were forced to bring back the fumbling Tatum Bell for depth.  Hillis responded with 2 scores.  Could Floyd Little get the call from Mike Shanahan this week?…Lions, wide receiver Calvin Johnson with Dan Orlovsky and Daunte Culpepper throwing has scored in 5 of his last six games and is averaging almost 19 yards a reception, finally a Lion receiver drafted in the first round is delivering…Packers, it took ten games but running back Ryan Grant finally has as many touchdowns as fumbles this year after he scored  last week in a win against the Bears….Houston, Matt Schaub will miss another 4 weeks with his knee injury, Sage Rosenfels will continue to start….Colts, when Joseph Addai rushed for one hundred five yards Sunday against Houston, he broke a string of 17 consecutive regular season games where no Colt back had cracked the century mark….Jaguars, rumors are starting that Jack Del Rio will be fired at the end of the season if they do not make the playoffs….Chiefs, while the Chiefs have just won a single game this year after winning just 4 games last season, head coach Herm Edwards’ job appears to be safe. Carl Peterson is more than satisfied with the progress of the team and especially that of quarterback Tyler Thigpen, so much so that trade talks with the Browns for Derek Anderson have grown silent…

Raiders, true story, Jim Fassell isn’t the only one reaching out to Al Davis asking for a job.  Jeff George recently called the Raiders about making a comeback.  You never know, crazier things have happened with Oakland’s enigmatic owner at the controls…Eagles, head coach Andy Reid downplayed Donovan McNabb’s comments about not knowing the overtime rules in last week’s tie game with the Bengals, saying, “not every player knows every rule.”  That might explain in part why the Eagles have failed to win a championship since 1960…Rams, Steven Jackson will miss this Sunday’s game against Chicago, his thigh injury is more serious than first thought…Buccaneers, with Earnest Graham possibly lost for the year with an ankle injury, Cadillac Williams will get more carries than initially thought. Veteran Warrick Dunn, their starter as of today, is not capable of more than 20 carries a game. Williams could be a big surprise for the Buccaneers who rank 14th in the league in rushing with 115 yards a game.
