OWINGS MILLS — Former Baltimore Ravens linebackers coach Vic Fangio is staying in the Harbaugh family.
After working for Ravens coach John Harbaugh last season, now Fangio is joining Harbaugh’s brother, Jim Harbaugh, as the new defensive coordinator at Stanford.
According to Rivals.com, Fangio was hired along with defensive backs coach Willie Martinez.
A league source confirmed the move.
Fangio had been in Baltimore for the past four seasons, but was replaced as linebackers coach by former New England Patriots defensive coordinator Dean Pees.
He was a defensive coordinator previously with the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts and the Carolina Panthers.
NOTES: Running back Ray Rice rushed for 42 yards on seven carries, including a 23-yard run, as he was the leading rusher in the Pro Bowl on Sunday night. Fullback Le’Ron McClain gained six yards on two carries, converting a fourth-down conversion late in the game. Middle linebacker Ray Lewis had four tackles with defensive tackle Haloti Ngata contributing three stops.
