The Baltimore Ravens’ 2011 regular season schedule features five nationally-televised games, including three on the road, with two of those away contests on Sunday night.
The difficult lineup has the Ravens hosting the teams that played in last year’s AFC Championship in their first two home games: the defending AFC champion Pittsburgh Steelers visit Baltimore in the season opener on Sunday Sept. 11 at 1:00 p.m., and the New York Jets come to M&T Bank Stadium on Oct. 2 for an 8:20 p.m. nationally-televised Sunday Night Football battle (NBC).
As part of an NFL Network primetime special, the Ravens will make history on Thanksgiving night (Nov. 24 at 8:20 p.m.), when they host the San Francisco 49ers (According to NFL research, John and Jim Harbaugh will become the first brothers in league history to face each other as head coaches). This will also mark Baltimore’s first-ever Thanksgiving game.
Baltimore will then play Pittsburgh for the fifth-consecutive season in primetime when the two teams face off on Sunday Night Football on Nov. 6.
“Our home schedule is very attractive, including the first two games at M&T Bank Stadium against the Steelers and the Sunday night against the Jets,” team president Dick Cass said. “Overall, the schedule reflects the confidence the league has in us after we’ve made the playoffs the last three seasons and in four of the last five.”
Baltimore finishes the regular season with two AFC North tilts, one at home against the Cleveland Browns on Saturday, Dec. 24 at 1:00 p.m., and the other at the Cincinnati Bengals on New Year’s Day at 1:00 p.m.
Among the five games played against 2010 playoff teams, the Ravens host the Indianapolis Colts, who have made the playoffs an NFL-record nine consecutive years. These AFC contenders play on Sunday, Dec. 11 at 1:00 p.m.
The Ravens face the AFC South (at Tennessee on Sept. 18, vs. Houston on Oct. 16, a Monday night clash at Jacksonville on Oct. 24 and the Colts) and the NFC West (at St. Louis on Sept. 25, vs. Arizona on Oct. 30, at Seattle on Nov. 13 and the 49ers) this season.
