Here are the most interesting stories Monday in the AFC North:
- The Cleveland Browns are keeping an even keel after their preseason win over the Green Bay Packers.
Morning take: Some Browns fans are getting out of hand but not the team. It’s a long season, and Cleveland has a nice building block to move forward.
- Baltimore Ravens cornerbacks Cary Williams and Jimmy Smith ran with the first team this weekend.
Morning take: The Ravens are doing some experimenting after their first preseason game. Corner and offensive line are two positions the Ravens are looking at.
- Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor will have thumb surgery on Tuesday.
Morning take: The sooner the surgery, the better chance Taylor is back by Week 1. The Ravens game on Sept. 11 should be the focus.
- Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga welcomes a move to the middle.
Morning take: Maualuga (five tackles) was one of the few bright spots in Cincinnati’s preseason loss to the Detroit Lions. He is better chasing down ball carriers than covering tight ends.
