OWINGS MILLS — The Baltimore Ravens are expected to hire former Rutgers running backs coach Chris Hewitt as assistant special teams coach.
Hewitt was an All-Conference USA defensive back for the University of Cincinnati when Ravens coach John Harbaugh was on the Bearcats’ staff.
The Ravens haven’t officially confirmed Hewitt’s addition to the staff.
Hewitt coached running backs for the past two seasons, previously coaching the Scarlet Knights’ cornerbacks.
That included New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans cornerbacks Devin McCourty and Jason McCourty when the twin brothers played for Rutgers.
Hewitt played four seasons for the New Orleans Saints, recording three sacks.
Hewitt has worked for the Cleveland Browns, Ravens and Philadelphia Eagles through the NFL minority coaching fellowship program, concentrating on special teams and the secondary.
