NFL Draft Columbia native Zach Brown works out for Ravens

OWINGS MILLS — University of North Carolina linebacker Zach Brown has worked out for the Baltimore Ravens and the New England Patriots.

The former Wilde Lake standout and Columbia native has visited the Chicago Bears, Tennessee Titans, Detroit Lions and the New York Jets.

An All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection, Brown is one of the most athletic players in the draft.

The 6-foot-1, 244-pounder ran the 40-yard in 4.50 seconds at the NFL scouting combine, improving that time to 4.48 seconds at his campus Pro Day workout.

Brown had a 33 1/2 inch vertical leap and a 9-8 broad jump at the combine.

Brown set a school indoor track record with a 6.72 in the 60 meters three years ago

Brown was unofficially clocked in a 4.28 in the 40-yard dash three years ago.

Brown was a Butkus Award semifinalist last season when he led the Tar Heels with 105 tackles, 13 1/2 for losses, 5 1/2 sacks, three interceptions, three forced fumbles and four pass deflections.

For his career, Brown had 230 tackles, 19 for losses, seven interceptions and three forced fumbles.

As a junior, Brown had 72 tackles and three interceptions.

Brown rushed for 1,537 yards and 20 touchdowns with 90 tackles as a senior at Wilde Lake, going 29-0 in wrestling.

He won the Class 3A title in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.67 seconds, also winning the 200 meters with a 21.52 time.
