Over this offseason
the Ravens have had key losses and key additions.
Our major loss was
Ben Grubs. With that loss, our line will be a lot worse, but that’s not all.
Recently Bryant Mckinnie has had a personal problem. I hear a rumor that he has
no self-motivation which would explain why he is sometimes out of shape. Recent
reports have said that Mckinnie will report Monday. For the Ravens sake we hope
that he shows up because we want an experienced player playing.
Well Mickinnie isn’t
the only problem.
I know Michael Oher
has the tendency of being good, but last season he caused many penalties. Those
are just stupid mistakes that we can’t afford. If he can fix that then he could
be a great lineman. A plus for the Ravens’ line is Marshal Yanda. I view him as
one of the best run blockers in the NFL, and many Espn analysts say he is the
third best guard.
Now let’s look at
some key additions.
Everyone knows now
that the ravens signed Ray Rice to a five year deal not too long ago. Well I
think that it was the wrong move because this league is based around passing.
Another reason not to sign him to a long term deal is because running backs
tend to fade quickly, and who knows he may fade before his contract is up.
There is no doubt, I love having Ray Rice here in Baltimore, but by the time
his contract is up he will be 30. I do have to say though he has never gotten
injured as a starter for the Ravens and is a great player.
Another key addition
is Jacoby Jones. He will play our third string wide receiver this year, and he
will be returning punts. The good thing about him returning punts is that he is
a good punt returner and Ladarius Webb will not have to return punts. This way
Webb won’t have the chance of being hurt.
The last key addition
came from the draft. – the running back from Temple, Bernard Pierce. Pierce is
a power running back that will most likely be coming in for when the Ravens
have short third down conversions.
Overall, the Ravens
look pretty good coming off the offseason. They have a stronger secondary as
Jimmy Smith has come to camp in great shape. Ray Lewis has lost weight and
become a lot faster. Our defensive line looks great with Ngata, Terrence Cody,
and Arthur Jones. We have a great rookie coming in for Suggs, Courtney Upshaw.
On offense we have Joe Flacco, who came off a great playoff game. Ray rice who
is one of the league’s best running backs, Vonta Beast (Leach)
at full back. Torrey Smith who looks to become Joe’s number one wide out by the
end of the season, and Aquan Boldin.
I think the Ravens
will have another successful 2012 season.
